Knoxville happenings on Feb 1, 2003

I got my notice today about the price increase. It appears that for a net $1.00 more a month I will get 256 k upload and more mail box storage. See the notice below.

Thanks,

HD

So this pretty well seals it... that the aforementioned changes are coming.

Have any other areas received their notification, yet?

I wonder if they are going to do all markets at once, or just one at a time?

Well I hope that extra buck a month doesnt kill the budget (lol) here's hoping I get that same notice. I think tho around here they have already doubled the mailbox size, I'd go for the 256 increase.

That's just a shame, because I don't rent my modem, so I'll have to send another $3 to Comcast every month, making my bill way above $100. Thanks Comcast! The upload is nice, but I hate to have to pay one more cent to Comcast.

Hmmm - got a letter very similar to that one here in Gibbs...

Unfortunately mine mentioned nothing about the upload increase. Wonder if we here in Gibbs will be upgraded, or just charged more...

A picture's worth 1000 words, though.

I received notice last week

that the cable TV rates as well as the internet rates were going up. The notice I received didn't include any info. about the increased upload. I noticed the difference in price for the modem rental...think they're afraid they would have a bunch of their units returned ? (Especially with the cost of cable modems plunging?) Personally, I don't think the price increase is worth it...the increase in upload speed is just an excuse for them to raise prices. WE'RE PAYING FOR THE PURCHASE OF ATT BROADBAND !!!

However you want to look at the reasons behind the increase, it is more than likely not a coincidence that ATTBI customers (w/CATV) pay $42.95/month w/o rented modem or $45.95/month w/rented modem for internet service advertised as 1500/256.

I'll be as shocked as hell if we get any kind of notification around here of any change.

I have yet to ever be notified of anything that comcast does that effects me.

You'll notice that although the notice is quite clear that rates will change, it only says the increase will enable them to increase upload to 256K; it doesn't actually say they are going to do that or when.

man... this makes me sooo GLAD I don't have to pay for that crap other than the extra modem and cable box.

in all honesty, if I had to pay for this stuff, I'd have a rabbit ear antenna. guess I'm in the wrong business to not be a big fan of television

what REALLY sucks is the huge increase for the additional outlets.. all that will result in are more service calls as people incorrectly do the lines themselves :-/

I haven't seen our increases yet, but apparently the AO charge will go up from $14.95 to close to $30 each. *sigh*

JT - yes, you are right, that was on my last bill. That only applies to cable TV, though; I don't see anything in there that pertains to internet service, which is all I have. I could give a rat's @ss about comcast cable TV - I have been very happy with my satellite TV.

Aside from the changeover when @home tanked, I don't ever remember being notified of major things that affected my internet service, like maintenance or when the caps were originally put in place.

I Am Getting WOW Soo

It is seeming more and more that AT&T Broadband is purchasing Comcast, like Monkey See, Monkey Do. Comcast is going with AT&T Broadband's rates ($42 internet, $3 modem), and speeds (1500/256).
