JmodixPremium join:2001-09-20 Tampa, FL | We need pics button errrr..... Ok this is the first thing Ive recommended about the site we all love and visit daily. We need something like pictured above; that would let us know that there are pics in that thread. Lots of times I just wanna look at pictures of case mods, this would help greatly and be a nice little feature for the forums. |

Well then we would have people not using it or using it when there is no pics or attachments. I like the idea of a paperclip but make it automatic. -- WWW.Urbanterror.NET |

| I guess a forum rule could be put in place that requires it, or a hey mod of a post could be done and a moderator could edit to add or delete that icon. -- sisomsO -- flaggship@dslr.net [text was edited by author 2003-01-09 11:45:10] |

I think that it is just to denote that there are pics or attachments in the thread....
Haven't done a paperclip yet, but I had this handy so I fixed it up first.
This one could be triggered say if it picked up on "img src=" or if the attachment had a grapic file extention. EG... .gif, .jpg or whatever the site allows as uploaded grapic images.

It would be beneficial to those with dial up and slow loading pages. They can then avoid those threads. I know I hate when my dsl goes down and have to use dial up. Some pics are just too big. -- Be Kind to Animals.... Kiss a Shark. |

justinAustralian join:1999-05-28 New York, NY kudos:7 | reply to Jmodix the only easy way to do this is the first poster (topic starter) has attachments, otherwise, it will not be easy to do. |

FlaggerPremium join:2001-08-10 Weimville | The message Icon, or the automatic indication of attachments? I thought you could add the message Icon anywhere in the thread.
Many times the thread starter has the pics, certainly in certain entertainment forums and the broadband/home office photos forum.
Hosts could make it a forum rule to include that Icon if topics contain images or edit to indicate that it does. -- sisomsO -- flaggship@dslr.net |

While maintaining acceptable performance you mean, right..? I don't know how your backend structure looks, but it just seemed weird that you said it's not easy..
Btw, I *Sign*, with the addition that I think the total combined file size of all the images in the thread be displayed too(in a parenthesis next to the image or something). Maybe also or instead, the amount of images. Scan the post text array (or flag or whatever) for both img tags and attachments, so the pesky hotlinked images are accounted for as well. |
