My original thinking was to set it up to run using a Bounce server.

Of course, I would need serious hand holding to get it set up and running properly..
We're doing our best to make it as easy as possible

And I'm doing my best to make some progress... but I only have a FreeBSD laptop to test it on...no netbooting in my house... so I'm developing quite a bit on a platform called 'Imagination'

I have some small HD's I think around here still. I have a kinda large junk box myself lol. I also have at least one Adaptec 2940 SCSI card that I could donate if it is needed. Let me know. I will look around the house and see about the IDE hard drives.

Cool, every little bit helps... I am hoping to get enough parts to get at least one ordered so I can set the first blade up and get the layout of what I need to start building the housing for it and testing it.

I have had an offer of a few SCSI drives but not confirmation yet...

As soon as I get confirmation of a pledge I will add to the top who pledged what so we can see exactly what we can do.

As, I said everything helps, and I and the team thanks anyone who can donate a little something. Even if it is only a couple bucks toward shipping or misc. stuff for the project...

I want to say again that this will not be run under my name, but under a Team Name.... If the team doesn't like TH_Foldinator_1, than just pick a name that you all like, (and NO I don't mean YOUR user-name anybody)and I will run it under that name.

AS I said I am not going to purchase anything until I know I have at least enough stuff for the first blade. After that it will grow as it grows...

Also, I do not want anyone to consider this a "PERSON TO PASS ME UP". This is a Team combined effort for the cause and Team. Let's just consider it one of those anon. accounts for the team.

My thinking here was that people that could not afford to by whole systems at a time or just didn't have the time or know how to build them could contribute what they could. Then as a whole we should be able to get something fairly serious going on here.

Another thing here that we need to address is that we need to find a backup if for some reason I should get hit by a falling meteor and killed. Someone who could take the Foldinator and host it for the team. Or would it be better to have them sent back to the people that donated the parts?

Questions? Ideas? Suggestions? Now is the time to speak up.

Thank you

I'll volunteer to take custody of the children, should the need arise. Between me and wafen, they'd be very happy in the wholesome midwest

I have no problem with this if it is the general consensus of the team.

It must be understood, however, that whoever does it must continue to do it under the designated account that it is started under.

you can also add me to the list of backups....maybe third string QB...and i am up north...so just in case that metor gets a good target on the MidWest, they are welcome in the cold place i call my basement... ;O)

as for the project like in Crunchy we learned several things that put everyone at ease...

1- any decisions were drafted into a simple charter.
2- we decided on backups and what would happen to the EQ if projects were to end or we just gave up (yea right). I think we decided that the EQ would be donated to a charity that the participants voted on...but i am also fine that the EQ goes back to those we could identify..
3- Pness did not care that he was going to be passed by Crunchy..
4- we figured out that President Pness was not such a good idea... ;O)

5 and most important- we deicided that this needed to remain FUN...at any point were it was becoming UNFUN we held the right to smack someone with a wet FISH

I'm completely in favor of the wet fish treatment as a remedy for any unfun attitudes. I have a 50 lb. frozen tuna that should do the trick nicely. If we begin to take this too seriously, we are in trouble. Me, I like fun.

We could call them Cure1, Cure2, etc.

... or TH Fold1, TH Fold2, etc.

... and I really think someone should donate a CPU so we can get this baby rolling

Hey, don't forget the Benders! How about Bending_for_a_cure and Folding_for_a_cure?

I agree. If the CPU is too expensive for one person, maybe multiple people could split the price of each one?

Looks like there are a few Scsi drives being donated PM where to send the 2940 Adapter and I will get it out of the dust (kidding) and get it sent along with what ever IDE drives I can find.
