My son accidently erased all his MP3s.(emptied trash, too)
We have Win98SE. Is there a way to recover some using an old DOS command?

Thanks

Try this tool, it should work under any Windows version. But depending on how much you've used your computer since the accidental deletion, there's no telling how much can be recovered. Good luck.

Holy smokes! Great app MacGyver! I just clicked on restore without putting in a file extension, and I had to cancel it after 10 secs. It found about 1000 files! Guess MS doesn't really want you to get rid of anything.

As always, it is my honour to be of assistance. You are most welcome!

BTW, I don't know where I found this program, but it's a good thing I had it archived on CD!

Another reminder that delete in the Windows world doesn't mean remove from the system, it only removes Fat info >> just think if those MP3's were personal financial info and you sold/threw away the HD ??

You're right, I heard on the news that a company bought a bunch of hard drives off ebay and it was shocking what they were able to recover off them, even though they were empty, formatted, and fdisk'd. Credit card numbers, financial statements, passwords, personal letters and photograpsh, etc.

They recommended that if you want to get rid of a hard drive, the best thing to do is smash it to pieces with a hammer.
