Note that you have for your incoming server @pop.ameritech.net. As Ameritech Tech said: quote: Your userid is whatever@ameritech.net for those servers.

| reply to AmeritecTech So I'm inconvenienced by a typo that ameritech made and can't fix.
Okie dokie! Thanks guys!
Here is my solution to the problem!! I need to find and marry a nice lady with the first name that starts with a 'S' and she can have my master account!
I don't even have a single member of my family tree that has a first name that starts with S |

| reply to Maxo These servers are from the SBC web page and work under outlook express but not under Netscape
Your Email Address:MemberID@... Incoming (POP) Outgoing (SMTP) ameritech.net pop.ameritech.yahoo.com smtp.ameritech.yahoo.com
If I go back to mailhost.chi.Ameritech.net, netscape works. And the web site only has instructions for outlook express. I am using my username@ameritech.net . -- Jim Anderson |

With me it appears that installer #1 added a "1" to my email address....
Already married, so your suggestion is out...
Anyway, I don't know of any lady with a "1" in her name
Of course: "You're #1" comes to mind..... -- Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle |

| reply to janderso1 ok, I have a simple question, which may be in the FAQ, but I don't remember seeing it...
If we DO NOT migrate, will our logins (static or dynamic) eventually not work? Or will non-migrated people be just fine ?
thanks, in advance, and forgive me if this has been asked and answered... -- If you have to ask what EFNET is, you don't need broadband |

| reply to aliasrlz They shouldn't have a problem. The main thing you are doing with this is adding on Yahoo services, not changing dsl speeds/services. I now have 750MB of online space lol. -- -=AIM=-My Pbase Pics |

| reply to janderso1 OK thanks to all I have successfully migrated my single email address to SBC\yahoo successfully with my desk top computer. My mail is working just fine and dandy and I see no major change in my connection. HOWEVER, how or where do I download the dialup service software so that I can install it on my laptop. I was taken back about 5 years when the installation and transition to the sbc\yahoo service mark did not include an option to save the software to disk rather than installing it automatically. If someone out there knows where to download the phone dialer please send me an im. Thanks, Howard -- Ameritech.net - Has definitely improved by several giant steps |

| When you migrate your sub accounts, you can check for the dial up installation. From there, it must download the installer to a Temp folder, so check there. I installed it, and took a screenshot of all the numbers I need. Then I removed it. If I need to use 56k I will use a basic login, not the sbc software. -- -=AIM=-My Pbase Pics |

| reply to janderso1 Apparently their is a queu backup which will prevent all changes to @ameritech.net domains to take awhile. This may be why @ameritech.net userid's that migrate aren't accessible. Maybe will be fixed with a 24 hour wait, maybe some of these people will need a case opened with NOC. Anyhow, this is just what I'm told by the official people. -- »www.tfn.net/~jdbaucum |

I also got the email inviting me to upgrade to Yahoo.
Yes, I think I will upgrade to SBC Yahoo DSL and "merge" my Yahoo id, but I have a few questions. I have read all the FAQs, but am not clear on a few points.
1) When my yahoo id is "merged", is it possible to still login to yahoo with the just "merged" id, and see mail sent to me. Or, is the only option to get to my mail is to logon to SBC Yahoo with my xxx.ameritech.net id?
2) When I merge my free Yahoo email id, will my current structure, twenty-nine email folders and inbox, and all my email filters, be maintained, or will the "merge" process just dump all the email from my yahoo id into my SBC Yahoo inbox?

| I chose not to merge my free Yahoo account because I wanted to keep an email address that isnt tied to my ISP. If you merge it and then change ISP, it appears that you would have to pay Yahoo $10 if you want to keep the email ID. -- Jim Anderson |

| reply to kthansen kthansen, I would advise NOT to merge your e-mail for the reason janderso1 gave. If you ever drop SBC DSL service that e-mail address will by gone. But if you do, I believe you can still get to it through www.yahoo.com. All of your settings and folder for it will still be the same. -- »www.tfn.net/~jdbaucum |

| reply to kthansen I'm not sure if this is an answer to your question...I didn't merge my Old Yahoo account...I still have it and if I'm in my new account and want to go to my old Yahoo Account...Just sign out of your new account and sign in to old account and up it comes...
