kudos to SBC

With the change of Ameritech to SBC, the migration to SBC/Yahoo (if you choose) and the fact new DSL accounts at SBC end in @sbcglobal.net, SBC could have told us old @ameritech.net people to change our email to @sbcglobal.net, but they didn't. We all know what a pain it is to change, and for SBC to leave things be....thanks.

Re: kudos to SBC

Your e-mail address remains @ameritech.net.

Re: kudos to SBC

I think that's what he's happy about.

Netcom-Mindspring-Earthlink was smart enough to do that too throughout all those mergers and acquisitions. All of the old domains are still active.

I wasn't paying attention, and the post appeared to be sarcastic.

"SBC could have told us old @ameritech.net people to change our email to @sbcglobal.net"

as in, geesh, they could have told us that they were taking away our e-mail addresses. Anyhow, oops! I had just read a post from Eak, so I guess I was expecting something else. Sorry about that, Senor Geek!

Re: kudos to SBC

I wasn't being sarcastic at all. Was looking at the ATT-Comcast-Excite situation and thought SBC deserved some mention. That's all.

@home, ATT.NET, Media one now Comcast cable is known to do this... "oooh sorry customers, but we are making you change your email address yet again.."

Glad SBC isnt as dumb.... Looks like Earthlink in the past has been simular in "we bought you but we'll let u keep your address as long as your a customer".

Re: kudos to SBC

Changing Email addresses can be a lot worse than an inconvenience. If you have it on your business cards, literature and stationary, it can get down right expensive.

I guess the $25/year it costs to maintain the domain is too cost-prohibitive !!

Or, and more likely, the company wants a "unified" name.

changing those logos is pretty expensive. My dad works for an SBC Distributor/telecom interconnect and now they have to change all their business cards, trucks, and ads to say SBC. What a pain.
