@aol.com | should i use aol 6.0 with raspppoe or 8.0?
Hey, I have horrible speeds with my aol 8.0 dsl connection, not to mention horrible ping.
Do you think it would make it better or worst to use aol 6.0 with raspppoe? I guess I will try both, but what about you guys? any preference? |

| So I did the rasppoe/aol 6.0, about 300k faster!!
I set my rwin to 38080 (I think tahts it, it was the highest that tweak test reccommended). Do you think I should make it lower or what? Im still slow at 700k download |

| If you don't mind, how showing me a tweak test result and a speed test
»/tweaks
And speed test from a server closest to you: »www.speakeasy.net/main.php?page=sup_pops
If you are registered, I wouldn't mind looking at your line results »/linequality
I was a user of 6.0 with RASPPPOE, and it, too, ran fine. I assume you are running Win2k/WinXp. -- ·.·´¯`·.·Meteor Dive·.·´¯`·.· [text was edited by author 2003-01-26 18:31:21] |

| reply to pariahSS tweak test: »monitor.dslreports.com/tweak/blo···raspppoe
speed: 1027/108 (earlier at 700 i had emule goign heh, didnt realize-so its actually about 500-600k faster)
line test: »/quality/nil/977775
The MTU is lower than the tweak test reccomends, but I don't think I should raise it higher since AOLPlus must be lower-its the highest reccomended setting for AOLPlus (according to the AOLDSL faq here).
I'm still not sure what RWIN I should have, it's my beleif that as high as possible is best, so I have it set to the highest reccomended setting. |

| Alright, your overall look on the connection is fine Yes emule and other application that requires large constant flow of data will impact your speeds on those test. As for RWINs, for the speed you gave, try out 29920 or 32640. It may help stablelize if at all for extra latency and a few long distance. [text was edited by author 2003-01-26 20:41:29] |

join:2002-09-15 | reply to pariahSS my speed is the same after changing the rwin to 32640...but I'm actually getting more loss--should I put it back to 38080 or try 29920?

| You positive you aren't running anything while conducting these tests? Window should have filled quicker than usual. And I didn't say your speeds will increase. Just a matter of condition on the line.
If not, than yes go ahead and revert back to 38080. For it does seem you throttling at max there. [text was edited by author 2003-01-26 21:18:49] |
