Pictures of T-1 install

Does anyone happen to have pictures of a T-1 installation? Basically i have a few T-1 NIU cards here..and just trying to see how they are used.

The NIU cards convert a 2 wire T-1 to a 4 wire circuit at the customer prem.

The flow would go:
Copper to-->NIU-->Smartjack

NIU's are also used for for subrates, but the flow is the same. The NIU sits ahead of the smartjack which is the DEMARC point for the telco network.

Hope that helps, sorry no pics.

This is the pinnout of the T1 RJ48 jack.

Everything beyond is customer premise equipment.

RJ48 Smart Jack >> CSU >> DSU >> Router

CSU Channel Service Unit
DTU Digital Service Unit

Back in the bad old days when T1 was new 1960's CSU and DTU were separate boxes. When the FCC mandated deregulation it set the 4-wire interface as the demarcation point between Telco side and customer side. Today CSU and DSU functionality is but into most T1 router made for use in the US. In Europe the DSX-1 interface is the demarcation between Telco and CPE, so the Telco owns the CSU.
