 HELP~~ Earthlink/Barricade Router & WinME

Ok - my DirectTV (Static IP) is going kaput! I have elected to use Earthlink (PPoE ONLY) - recieved my BroadMax modem and had no problems hooking up direct from my PC (WinME OS) to the modem and surfed the web.
I then went about setting up my Barricade router (7004BR - upgraded to the newest firmware) to network with my other home PC (WinME also). Following instructions I set up the modem to be "Bridged", set up the router to utilize PPoE, etc. The router does connect and shows the Ip's, gateway, and connected - I can ping out and receive responses.
The problem is I cannot access the web via either computer or any browser? It runs and runs and then says "DNS" error cannot load page? I would assume it's some setting in the Barricade Router? When I reverse everything back and hook it back into the DirectTV Modem and the other phone line that it was originally installed on ~ it works fine! And...re-do the EL BraodMax Modem back to factory sets - and have that plugged into the phone line it should be and direct to my PC it's fine too! SO..somewhere there is a glicth trying to get Networked? I know it can be done without having to purchase this option from EL?
Can anyone help me here?

Please note, I have two phone lines - and the DirectTV is hooked up to one line while I had the Earthlink installed on a different one. I DO switch between the lines when going back and forth between the services..

Does the router configuration show that it is getting a DNS address? If so, what is it?

If not, you may have to set DNS manually either in the router, or on each computer.

DHCP assignment of IP addresses and assignment of DNS can be done independently of each other in the computer.

yes...the Barricade router showed a DNS number...I have the router and computers set up to obtain IP automatically. The Pc's TC/IP connection is set up with "Disabled DNS" (per instructions) and use DHCP for Win Resolution

While connected to the router (with the router connected to the internet), try going into winipcfg, you might have to click on More Info, but check if the computer shows as receiving any DNS. If not, try releasing and renewing the address for the Ethernet adapter and then see if you do.

well...I do believe I have tried that already too! But unfortunately, I am @ work right now and cannot try that fix to confirm. But honestly, I really do think I have tried that.
Any other insights?

When you tried it, were you able to get DNS servers on there? (I just need to know if your computer is even getting DNS to use, and what they are to verify if they are correct).

Ok, Here's all the data -
Barricade:
IP: 4.35.xx.xxx
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: 4.35.75.144
DNS: 64.34.64.36, 64.34.48.36 DHCP Server: Enabled

Computer: WinIpConfig
DNS: 64.34.64.36
Node type: Broadcast
IP: 192.168.123.166
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.123.254
DHCP Server: 192.168.123.254

Did it ALL again and...the infamous, "Page cannot be displayed, blah, blah, blah - cannot find server or DNS error"

removed IP address - mballard See Profile

I think I know what the problem is, the DNS being shown by both the router and the computer are your old DNS for DirecTV DSL, which is almost certainly why DNS resolution isn't working. Check the router's setting to see if DNS is set manually, look around carefully, you might have to change back to static temporarily and change it, but you want the router to get it's DNS automatically (through PPPoE), the first step is to get the router showing the correct DNS, which I believe for your type of connection should start with 4.2.2. Once you get that showing properly, then release and renew your computer's IP, which should then show the same as the router, at that point, it should start working.
