Distance to CO

Distance (Loop Length): 9051 feet (1.71 miles) -- 2748 meters (2.75 kilometers)

This is what I'm told with refrence to my Distance to CO. Does this mean round trip (Loop Length) or distance too? What type of connection speed could I expect at this distance? If a company says 1500 x 256 am I close enough to expect that?

Re: Distance to CO

Hello neighbor...

Loop length from a website (even this one) is an estimate based on a rough guess using mapping programs, and is usually wildly different from your actual wire length. However, if yours is really around 9,000 feet you should easily get 1500/256. I'm at 9,300 feet with that service and it's only using about 25% of my maximum attainable bitrate.

Re: Distance to CO

Where is our actual CO Location. In your other post you mentioned 47th and Lagrange. I can almost throw a rock there from my house. I'm within a couple blocks of DuBois and 47th. I did a distance check here (dslreports.com) and I was quoted 8050 feet. Not sure how accurate there system is here.

Re: Distance to CO

My office (where I have DSL) is on La Grange Rd. south of 47th. The CO is on the west side of Ashland in La Grange, just south of the tracks, across from the Calendar Ave. parking lot. It's a huge brick building...you can't miss it.

Considering that everything around here runs in a grid, you're probably closer to 10,000 feet away.
