Blatant Invasion of Privacy +Threat by Dsl Extreme

EXTREME IS RIGHT LOOK AT THIS!!!!

I received this email by a DSL Extreme represenative.
I called him and I was told I should remove the file off my computer (FO), I told them it is none of their business what is or not on my computer and if they interrupted my service I would sue them...... the file wasn't even downloaded on their network so who the hell are they to tell me anything!!!!! the email EVEN SHOWS it was a DIFFERENT NETWORK the file was downloaded from so why are they threatening me???????they have no stand but the mere fact that they are contributing and enabling a third party who obviously has accessed my hard drive without my permission is not only scary but a blatant abusive invasion of my privacy.

I do have a firewall too......

STAY AWAY FROM DSLEXTREME

Battuto, I think all ISPs are now required by law to report any download that they think is not legitimate.

We did not and do not divulge your information

We are simply informing and notifying you that we received a warning letter regarding your account and IP address. The entity that is complaining was not given your information.

What you do with that information is completely up to. You may choose to take down the material or leave it on you r computer.

We do not report anything

We are only notifying the user that we received a warning letter from a third party. This actually helps you protect yourself.

Re: We did not and do not divulge your information

That is a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Leo R. Told me over the phone at DSL Extreme you and The Motion Movie Pictures Association of America have all the documentation that I downloaded these files and I should remove them from my computer... I might also note that I work at a law firm and the call was recorded as I stated before to Mr. R If I have any disruption of service I will file a complaint against DSL Extremes in Superior Court for damages. he also stated that The Motion Movie Pictures Association of America has my information and told me to go ahead and sue (DSL Extreme) so its obvious what kind of customer service you can expect from DSL Extremes.

Law firm or not. You have been told the truth by me. We do not monitor your activity or content in any way. There is no need to lie.

Re: We did not and do not divulge your information

Battuto, DSLextreme is acting on the log someone sent them. You got tagged by someone on Kazzaa, not DSLextreme. And if you really "work for a law firm", you would know that what they did was what they had to do. (but since you didn't know that, it's probably safe to say you don't "work for a law firm").

Re: Blatant Invasion of Privacy +Threat by Dsl Extreme

I like how you stressed the truth by you.....then explain why Mr. R would say the opposite to me? a scare tactic of some kind? he is, as well as you representing Dsl Extreme as a whole and the entire company is liable.

Now to quote what was in the original email from DSL Extreme.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED AND THIS WILL BE YOUR!!!! ONLY WARNING.

From what I can tell, lawyer boy, the only lawsuit would probably involve damages to be recovered by DSL Extreme due to defamation resulting in lost business.

But then again, Mr. Esquire, I'm sure you've got documentary proof from Kazaa, your friend with the "label" problem, something incriminating from DSL Extreme, the file that was actually downloaded (with proof of timestamp), and the specifics on how their notice actually caused you damages. Right?

Hahahahhahaha!!!! I remember when my roommate got banned from napster after trying to download Metallica songs.

This is why we have copy right laws around the world. USC got sued for allowing MP3's to be downloaded through their networks. I'm sure DSLx doesn't want this to happen to them too.

umm...any *real* lawyer would have known about this. I guess you didn't read this

Uhh, yes, it is. And the entire reason you posted to this F-O-R-U-M is because you wanted to make a public spectacle of the matter. Too bad you're not getting the sympathy you were fishing for.

Nah are you kidding. Dealing with all the tech savvy folks makes it all worthwhile. A hell of a lot more bandwidth but less support too. It all balances out.

I agree, just burn it to CD and shut the hell up! Yeah right... sure it's just a documentary about the trade center. Whatever! Man, there have been more angry people in this forum lately.
