Re: Better read it closley

If you read the press release closely, you will find that in addition to the money being paid to Comcast; they will also be getting Bresnan stock as part of the payment. That means that along with several investment companies they will be a part owner of Bresnan! Also as you read the rest of the article you will note that Bresnan will be managing these systems in partnership with Comcast for at least the next 10 years! It appears that Bresnan specializes in "operating non-urban cable systems".

"It seems that after evaluation Comcast has decided that those systems needed drastic upgrades and rather than poor more money they don't have into those upgrades, they decided to dump them off to someone else. Bresnan."

Comcast's business model is to always make 15-30% profit. If they can't see a profit coming out of these areas, then they dump them. I still work for at&tbb (comcast) and I am very impressed with them so far. They have a 'no nonsense' way of doing business. You either contribute to making a profit, or your gone. It's about time someone runs this like a business. at&t just sat around and spent spent spent and didn't care about the customers. I can't even start to tell you about some of their long term contracts that go back to Media One.

Bresnan has been working on acquiring these systems since long before the Comcast merger.

Well of sorts yes, Comcast was interested in the LARGE markets which only needed minor upgrades to offer Internet, VoIP, Digital cable, VOD

The areas comcast sold are RURAL areas that don't yet have any sort of advanced infrastructure in place and it will cost ALOT to rebuild them

Comcast just sold off some of their systems in the west? Wait a minute. Didn't Comcast just buy those systems from AT&T during the big merger/buyout?

It seems that after evaluation Comcast has decided that those systems needed drastic upgrades and rather than poor more money they don't have into those upgrades, they decided to dump them off to someone else. Bresnan.

Oh by the way since I no longer work at AT&T as a cable modem installer/contractor, I will be changing my user name.
