Simply because I had no other choice. I do now, but the reason I initially installed it was a matter of being let down by a program that wasn't updating. I waited and waited and finally felt uncomfortable waiting any longer.

I take it you chose Spybot?

I did although I have Ad-aware also. I just haven't installed it as yet. I don't know if I am going to and only time will tell. After reading the review that you posted, I am not sure how much I need running on my system, even though it should handle it. I try to keep my nose clean and haven't had a problem with spyware, even with the old versions of Ad-aware. That doesn't mean that I won't in the future, but how encumbered I want the system with programs for spyware is still up for grabs.

Nada!
I use both!!! But there is not that option...Do you need to polarize opinions? For what reason?

Well since AAW missed a cookie that S&D found, and S&D missed 2 files and a cookie, I will have to use both just to be sure nothing gets by. Okay?

Since this poll has no option for both, I will have to say S&D because they can also scan for registry inconsistencies and left-over tracks.

I have the "+" version of Ad-Aware...

I can't write software (And if I did, I wouldn't 'trust' it!)... For that reason, I have to decide who to toss my confidence in...

Ad-Aware as a company has 'history' with me as an existing product, and it has 'did good' by me and others before...
V6 is obviously a radically new version... It could be total luck that it hasn't found one 'hit' in a week on either Ad-Watch or Ad-Aware scans on my system. It also has greater configurations, that I have posted problems with, which were my fault........ So I'm learing about how to use and configure the new version, too!!

I still have error messages (Posted) about Ad-Watch startup problems, so I manually launch it after startup until it gets addressed.. They did fix the shutdown problem..

I am confident that the product will improve.... Any company who writes software HAS TO improve, or will be left at the side of the road...

I'm sticking with Ad-Aware, because it is a new version, and once tweaked, should regain the confidence of this user....

I like both, I use both (as a 1-2 punch), and I recommend using both, but the question in the poll is which one I like better. I like SS&D better. SS&D has lots of nice touches -- a set of useful tools like the BHO & system startup lists, spiffy skins, and customization feature that are just right for me such as the option to kill "usage tracks" without quaranteening them. However, I see no reason for using just SS&D or just AAW when both are free and each can find nasties that the other cannot.

I prefer SpyBot but I use both. The only time I run either one is when they put out new updates.

Well hell i dont know what to choose...

i had Xjupiter in m system..i used Spybot and scanned with 3 times...and it did not even find it even though uc.exe and cc.exe are running in my system right under Spybot's noses...

but i can't do the comparsion now..cus i already manually got rid of it. damn.. this could have been a good test.

Edit to add: i just did a full scan with aaw 6 and it found Xjupiter eventhough it's in the recycle bin!

i immediatly scanned with Spybot..and it didn't find it at all.

i guess i'll have to vote for aaw for now:)

Using both but I like Spybot better. The new Ad-aware is "prettier" but less effective and much slower.

Both.

Just as I use several Registry cleaners, that compliment themselves, so does Ad-Aware and Spybot.

Let the flames begin!
