| reply to jdong I would have voted for NAV, as I have used it for years, after getting dis-enchanted with Mcafee (Back in Dos Days)........
EXCEPT for the problems I had with lockups after upgrading from NAV 2001 to NAV 2003 (Never got past blue screens) in W98 system a few months back..... and I wasn't able to email NAV for assistance either!!! I felt pretty alone and "out in the cold", let me tell you!!!
SO My votes are for NAV 2002 on my XP box, and AVG for my W98 system.....
The fun will come in July of this year, when I have to determine WHAT to do when my NAV Definations Contract is up.....
Do I attempt NAV 2003 Again? AVG Pay (don't mind paying, but what I do mind is paying, then not being able to get support!!!!).....
Suggestions?????? -- Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle |

| reply to jdong Norton Antivirus 2002 for me.
I used to be a McAfee fan but the "Online" version started messing up with engine changes.
I really like the way NAV 2002 works...smooth. -- Forum Posts: 690, OOL Member Since - 10/18/00 [text was edited by author 2003-02-06 22:47:40] |

I use Gladiator, too. However, it has big problems with updates... |

redxiiPremium,Mod join:2001-02-26 Sherwood, MI | reply to jdong I use NAV 2k2 and AVG 6 Pro. AVG gets my vote; NAV needs some work and needs to stop freezing on certain functions even if it is on a clean install of Windows. Plus it's a hog.
AVG for XP, NAV for ME. |

 | reply to jdong Switched from NAV to NOD 32, best decision I ever made, best AV out there. |
|
 | reply to jdong Man, that's a limited choice.
You left out one of the names of the big "three" [NAV, McAfee] and......
TrendMicro's PC-Cillin
plus
Eset's NOD32 which is heavily used.
I use PC-Cillin + GAV -- TDS3: RATS are like mice once TDS gets thru with them! |

 | reply to jdong Cmon, there is NO WAY NOD32 is over 20% behind NAV in popularity. -- Feivel |
|
 | Since NOD32 is not even listed how do you know its 20% NAV in popularity? NOD32 not listed is a big over-site in my opinion, should of been there. |

|
 | reply to achilles1 Since the other catagory is 20% behind NAV, NOD32 is in that catagory so...you do the math achillies (Is math your achillies heel?). Anyway I think you missed my point. I am not saying NAV is better (can't believe I even wrote that) but there is no way it is that much more popular than the ESET moneymaker -- Feivel |
|
 | My math is very good, thank you. Your math would add up if you knew that everyone who voted fit "other" was an NOD32 user.:). Anyway, ya I can believe that norton is that much in front, its by far and away the most sold retail (boxed) AV, and best known name in the AV business. |
