| Cannot reset Dl-604
When I went past the Change Password screen with my Dl-604 router I was told that I was unauthorised to proceed or lingered too long. I am now locked out of the setup utility.
I have tried resetting to default settings but this has gotten me nowhere. Neither the new or blank password will work. The reset button will (apparently)not do anything and I have tried the power cycling described elsewhere on this site.
Any suggestions? |

| are you following these directions to reset?
Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset.
Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release.
Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure.
Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset. |

Been there, done that I'm afraid but the WAN light does not blink after pressing the reset button. There is a definite click as the reset is pressed but it is not apparently affecting the router at all.
I cannot get past the admin password either using the default or with the confirmed password I used before reaching the "Select Internet Connection Type" screen. |

Solved!
I tried to update the firmware and when I entered the password, in the firmware upgrade utility, there was a ping sound from the speakers when I entered the last character. The password failed so I entered it again, got the ping sound and again the password failed. I entered the password, got the ping sound, counted the number of ***'s and found it to be 9 characters for a 10 character password. I entered the first 9 characters and got into the Setup - problem solved!!! |
