MVM Tag Clarification Please

Just got back after the weekend and noticed my (Premium) tag is gone, and replaced with an MVM link. Is this actually a replacement for the (Premium) link- I haven't seen any other members that have it yet, so I'm not sure exactly what it's purpose for. The FAQ for MVM (by clicking on it, or just [HERE] states that it is given on some criteria (like the point system) that identifies someone as more helpful. Is MVM supposed to apply to a specific forum- such as you are more helpful in the Networking forum, or is it just a general heads up for people to kinda know that when you say something you know what you're talking about? If it is supposed to point out that you are helpful in one forum, perhaps it would be a good idea to have it mention that forum. If that is sort of the way this feature is headed, I can post in the New Feature Request forum, or this post can be moved.

I don't know if I got nominated or if I just qualified for MVM, but its a neat idea. My premium tag is gone, but its a nice replacement. Thanks!

I'll keep searching in case there are other threads that have touched on this feature, but some clarification on where this feature is headed would be appreciated.

It says exactly what the FAQ states. I have seen a few others with it. It is a great honor to have one!
Congrats.
What are you unsure on?

Who else have you seen with the tag? I'm just curious. This seems like a nice feature- gives some recognition to people that put out an extra effort (I didn't know I was doing anything special ), but for a site purpose, is it supposed to help people to know that in a specific forum, you are helping out a lot, or is it just supposed to be Site Specific? If it is for a specific forum, should the MVM tag when you click on it say something like:

"This Member is Recognized as Being Helpful in XXXX Forum"

Something so that if people look at it they will know what the MVM tag is awarded for? Its nice as a recognition, but is it supposed to have any other purpose than that?

I don't think I'm making myself very clear, and I'm sorry... I'm just confused if this tag is supposed to point out to other users that you help out in a certain forum, and you might be able to help them out more, or if it is just for recognition?

It wasn't discussed publicly. As the faq says it's a panel of mods that do the decision making on who should get it. General users don't have any say in the matter.

It's a site wide tag and not related to any specific forums.

OK good enough- we don't have any info as to the qualification process or anything, and thats fine. I can see from some of your posts that you got yours probably for helping so much in the DC projects. Mine might have been from helping in the Cogeco ISP and UNIX forums, but I never really thought I was doing anything special. I'd help out a Linux n00b here, and answer an internet question there... I guess it got counted somewhere without me even knowing it. I guess I'll just have to try extra hard to help everyone out, and I'm really getting involved with SETI@Home- since our team is winning our "Mini-Race" its a lot of fun!

Congrats to you too

This is to help users know the power users and who to go to if needed help. Slashdot14 has it.
I think it is a good idea.
But I disagree about saying which forum specific. I like it the way it is.
I like this new feature.

Shall I change my costume for the occasion or just keep the impish grin, blinking baby blues, and pitchfork just in case someone gets out of line for something more fun? Sorry. Cannot do. There isn't anything more fun than being a little impish devil!
