[Rant!] Constant dropouts in Chicago, IL: Anyone else?

I'm getting constant dropouts here in Skokie. It's like the internet just isn't there for 5 minutes at a time and then comes right back. What the heck is going on? It really pisses me off when I'm listening to internet radio and all of a sudden it's just silent. Is anyone else having any problems like this?

While I havent been having been having full blown drop outs, I have had some noticeable latency for the last few weeks. Ever since I got the SB4220 AT&T sent out.

How do I tell the difference? I mean these could be latency issues that are very very severe and my browser just times out.

I've been having connection problems in Skokie for a couple of months, posted in other threads here. I've pretty much given up calling. Last time, last week, they said there was a problem in the area and refused to send anybody to my apartment to check. I was going to drop AT&T and try RCN, but I'm planning to move in April so I'm going to wait and do it then. Have you tried calling AT&T? Maybe if enough people from around here call they will actually do something, though I wouldn't want to bet a kidney on it.

Plainfield, IL here. I've been getting erratic disconnects the yesterday and today. Seems like it started yesterday morning. Massive packet loss too. Did call ATT. They know of no problems in area. Dunno what's going on....

AT&T's backbone in Chicago is seriously swamped during peak hours because of their unwillingness to upgrade their routers to meet demand. I'm in Columbus, OH and they have been killing my Internet connection for WEEKS because of this crap. This is NON-STOP from 6pm to midnight everday:

I've only been experiencing lost syncs and dropouts since Wednesday this week (2/19). I've been having very good connections prior to this. Even during peak hours. I have an ATT technician scheduled to visit me today. Will post more later today if anything is resolved.

He is [mis-]using Ping Plotter 2.30.1 (»www.pingplotter.com)

I think a FAQ is needed for this topic.
