Re: [Connection] Problems in Chicago (AGAIN!)

I know you posted here already:

»[Rant!] Constant dropouts in Chicago, IL: Anyone else?

I'm in Plainfield. Real near you. I'm having the same problems. Started around Wednesday of this week (2/19). I was losing sync all the time for the past few days and i notice this morning, although i'm not losing sync, things are still very slow with mega loss of packets.
ATT tech coming this afternoon. Will post more if they find anything.

Compman,

ATT techs (3 trucks!!! woot!!!) were out to my place this morning. They mentioned there were problems in my area which they resolved last night. In addition my modem went bad. I got a new modem installed and everything is working just fine. Not getting disconnected like every 2 minutes and good pings.

FYI. I had a BestData CMX110. I now have a RCA DCM235. Tech mentioned the BestData was garbage to start out with. But it worked fine for me for the past 2 years.

Re: [Connection] Problems in Chicago (AGAIN!)

Ditto that...although my speeds just came back to the caps after 7p-11pm running 506dn/221up. At the stroke of 11pm, I'm back at the caps. This happens almost every night.
Good luck.

Get your house block, and connectors checked. You may have a bad connector.

I dont belive that is the problem, since the problems stop around 11:00pm-12:00am

Just have the tech check the connectors anyway, I think you might be surprised.

I belive they have, Ive had techs out 5 times to the house for sync problems i know they replaced the line to the house and changed some connectors inside and outside. That did help with my sync problems, but i feel this is a routing problem and not really anythign local.

I have friends all over that are having high latency about 4 hops into the ATTBI network between 6-12pm the last few nights.

Everytime i called support i got the run around so i took it higher... I wont say specifically what i did but I now have the ear of the top comcast people in the area and trust me, they will look into this since the order to help me came from top Comcast executive management.

When you get slowness maybe you could do a traceroute and email it to me...

for example, in DOS do a "tracert www.yahoo.com > c:\trace.txt"

Email me the trace.txt file that gets creates and I can use it to show them it's affecting MANY users.
