$10 a month increase starting march 10th

Well I live in sacramento and just got a call from brian from comcast, Used to be at&t , there raising the monthly cost $10.00 to $59.99 a month.
There doing this on my next bill.Has anyone else herd of this?I have not seen it.
This sucks because I work in the IT field And I got my rent raised 3 months ago by $100 and I make 20% less then I did 2 years ago.
The speed did increase the last 2 months from about 900k to 1.5mbps but I feel there being unfair about notifying me 3 weeks in advance.Brian was very snippety about that, said theres no law against it, well hell with law, what about good customer service?
This is the first I herd from anyone with comcast and if this is first glance at there customer service I will soon take my business back to sbc.
He was rude and funny at the same time.

It's true. Colorado customers got their notice today. Prices will remain the same if you are also a AT&T cable tv customer.

I was a cable TV customer paying $45 for ATTBI. I cancelled the TV service and went to satellite. ATT raised my ATTBI rate to $60 so I cancelled the service and now I'm running ADSL from Frontier/Citizens Communications for $50/month in Elk Grove.

Attbi/comcast sucky á$$.

If service is good in your area, and has been good (which of course is in no terms a prediction of what's to come ), you might consider signing up for an annual plan if your budget affords it, and the annual rate they're offering you is based on your older, lower rate.

I did this back in mid december (service out here in 60115 has been pretty good since mid october after they did some upgrades to the area) Since dsl is no an option, the attbi/comcrap monopoly wins my business

I locked in a rate of 42.95 for the year (actually 11 months since the 12th is free). Now, its unlikely they'll change prices on me while on the annual plan.

In addition, the referral credits come in handy too. I'm not sure what their limit is, but I've got 2 in so far, so that helps reduce the rate some as well.

If none of these options work for you, consider adding basic cable for $10 a month (if you're on a 39.99/42.xx rate, this would be less than paying $60/month).

Otherwise, welcome back to dialup...

I got that call a month ago. I have DirecTV and will never go back to cable. So I had RCN cable internet installed and canceled ATTBI. I'm not paying $62 for less service then I had w/ @Home(yes the good old days). Screw you ATTBI/Comcast.

I second that. I also have directv and i'd rather stay on this crappy dial up than pay an extra 10 bucks a month for AT&T, what a rip off IMO. I would have gladly kept the broadband internet if they wouldn't pull that garbage.

Does Earthlink offer service in your area?

I know in the Boston area, you can get the Earthlink cable (using the ATT lines) and they won't charge you more for not having ATT cable.

Here in Colorado I received my increase notice this weekend. I was surprised as I also have AT&T digital telephone. I called Customer Service and they said I had to have cable to keep my rate. Digital telephone didn't matter.

Sooo, I just got off the telephone with Qwest to get copper telephone lines back. Once that happens I'm opting for Speakeasy DSL. Qwest is offering me a good deal on phone, and between the two I'll have about the same combined cost.

Speakeasy offers 1500 down and 350 up for $89. This and the fact with DSL I won't have the over crowed node slowdowns and AT&T makeshift network to deal with. Also won't have to deal with the ever changing e-mail addresses. (@home, attbi.com, comcast.com) With all the pain and grief they have put the customer through the past several years, you would think that they would lower prices.

Seems like a win win to me.

I just Ameritech DSL installed and saying bye bye AT&T Broadband. I have a satellite with Tivo why in the world would I go back to cable TV?

I'm in south florida, just got my $10 increase, called cust. svc.. Absolutely no response, they don't even know the phone # for corporate. Their cable svc. rots. Tried the website, it's down.
Is this legal?????

I officially hate the morons at ATT/Comcast. I live in Sacramento,CA(Antelope,CA to be exact) So I go to pick up my mail today, I get a letter from Comcast, formerly ATT, giving me idiotic explanations about their stupid name change.

Then they write, that my monthly internet service fee for customers who subscribe to Comcast High Speed internet access and do not subscribe to their moronic cable video service will be going up from $46.95 to $56.99!

I am outraged! What gives them the right to raise the price all they want? I am seriously thinking of CANCELLING and NOT RETURNING THE MODEM. I am sick of their crap. First of all, their service is pathetic. The installation guy was an idiot, he didn't tell me ANYTHING about the modem or other stuff. Their speeds are ok, but FOR NO REASON, I lose my connection. This has happened a few times. And when I call them, the computer voice gives me the stupid thing ATT calls "Power Cycling". It's freakin Cable Modem! It's not supposed to die or lose the connection!

I hate Comcast/ATT!!!

um.. they are a business - they can do whatever they want with there rates. What gives the movie theatre the right to make prices more expensive on Friday and Saturday nights.. cuz they can make more money that way.

Agreed - prices are getting out of hand. But I still think if you compare speeds bit for bit of dial-up versus any kind of broadband, broadband looks pretty cheap. I seem to be the only one who has never really had any problems with my service - with @home or ATT. I had a few snags getting set-up, but once we got past that, things have gone very smoothly.

I wish you luck holding on to your modem. Some people may consider that theft, but hey - if you think its justified, go for it! I'll look for your name in the Bee later this week

I signed up for 46.95 a month a free modem and the first month free. Oh yeah 49.95 for install. Well got a letter today stating that my rate was going to go up to 56.99 next month. This not what I sign up for in Nov. of 2002. Well when I called comcast they said the prices are subject to change but that is not what came on the mailer and not what I agreed too. I unfortunatly don't have the mailer any more. But I was just thinking that they don't have my signature any where stating that I agreed to this either so I might as well keep the modem and cancel my service and go with roseville dsl. I hate them too but what can I do. If any one else is having this issue. Please e-mail Me at Carstud@attbi.com and also file a complaint at the Better business bureau. Hey guys anyone that has Att or comcast now file a complaint with BBB. The link is in my previous post. If they get so many complaints some thing will have to give. And maybe we can get what we want, them to honor there packages ( I know its a pipe dream but lets have some fun and sick the better BBB on them at least may be it will be a headache for them)

Split a T1 with Neighbors? Can you give a hint how? Isn't T1 a couple hundred $$ a month? And 1.5Mb/sec? So even just 5 people might be $50 for 300K if you all were on at once?
Cause if I'm missing something, I have mt own 5 neighbors who'd be willing to dump ATT......

Hello fellow Sacramentans! Didn't know there were so many of you. T1 is like 1.5 Gigabits, not megabitss, MB is Cable/DSL.

If only DSL were available in my area! Oh how I would wish! But only Comcrap/ATT offers Cable and Roseville Telephone(satan's assistant or sidekick) offers DSL. But joining Roseville telephone is like signing a contract with the Devil, never done it, but I'm sure they are as horrible as ATT.

Is there any DSL Provider that provides great access to Antelope, 95483?

No, T1 is 1.5Mb each direction.. not Gigabit... about the same download as cable, but way better upload, with much much better support (that's what you pay for)

Yea, T-1 is 1.5 Mbps / 1.5 Mbps, you pay for 99.5% uptime everymonth (you get money for every hour down), 24 / 7 support, and they will litterally send a tech out of his bed to fix your line.

1.5 Gbps is basically half a OC-48, which would run, at the cheapeast price, $45,000 from a crappy carrier, and only in specific building, it's usually in the $60,000+ for 1.5 Gbps..

A better place to voice your opinion would be the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission. If they get enough complaints possibly something can be placed in the next contract with the local cable franchise(s). If there is enough feedback, maybe it would help get Comcast to share the cable with another ISP, much like Earthlink does in the Seattle market.

Thanks For the info. If I was starting service I would still think about the cable service. My biggest complaint is that they are not honoring what was agreed when I signed up. That is what has me pissed. Think about it. Would you agree to a year contract that they could set the price to what ever they want and you have to pay it. I wouldn't and didn't. This is just wrong. I go with Dtv because the packages are better and cheaper. Thanks again for listening to my gripes and for the great feedback. I will file a complaint with them and I encourage the everyone else to do the same if they feel it is right to do so.

The very thing you are saying is what allows them to raise rates - you didn't sign a contract, neither did they. If you want your rate locked in for a year, get DSL and be forced into a year contract - One of the nice things about cable is that it is month to month - no mandatory 1 year contract. The downside is that the cable company can change rates when ever they want to.

I really don't think money is the issue - it's money per quality that most people are upset about. Many people here would pay twice what they are paying for a solid reliable line. (not me, but some - I get a solid reliable connection already)

I agree that you should contact the SMCTC.. or maybe KCRA channel 3... Also - you should register here at DSLR - people like it when you are a registered user - its free, and is not like other register sites - you won't get crap from them...
