Re: Name Just One Disease/Illness You Wish Cured

I would use my 1 wish to cure Alzheimer's.
I never took this disease seriously until I witnessed it ravage my great-uncle. All my life growing up he was a wonderful, vibrant man. Held proud his world series ring that he got playing seniors softball. He went to, and won that world series ring late in his 70's.
Alz's is wicked, and relentless. There is nothing I would like to see more than it wiped off the face of existence.

My first cure would be for cancer.
As for AIDS, I thought there was a "cure" isn't safe-sex a pretty safe way to not get AIDS?
I don't think any other in-curable disease has such a simple way to not get it.
Please don't flame me. It's just that I know people who died from cancer and it hurts me that so little money gets funded for cancer research. I truly believe the bulk of our medical research should go to cancer.

That got voted a -4? Sheesh! Let me second that -- I would like to see something done to hold off the affects of aging.

After 40 it is patch, patch, patch. Eyesight failing. Ears ringing. Joints stiffening. I don't want to live forever, but I would rather not become an invalid to be kept like a dog in a kennel 'til I finally fall victim to one of the many age related killers.

True.. Aging is the most prevailant cause of dis-ease. I think thats a valid "illness"

I mean, the topic is name one disease/illness you would like to cure.. Well.. Aging is just as valid a form of dis ease as any other discussed.. I give it a vote up!

With this kind of thinking Heart disease and cancer can be cured by not smoking or eating red meat.Babies born with HIV did NOT make any choices that caused their disease.
Cure all diseases including ignorance.

What about children who wake up one day and have Lukemia?
For the most part, babies are not born with HIV/AIDS unless the mother has HIV/AIDS in which case it was preventable.

If you're going to have fun free sex, be prepared to get AIDS as well.

What does eating meat and drinking wine have to do with cancer? The French for the most part live long lives with this diet.
Cancer, while many doctors have many different "preventions", none of them are even remotely certain. However, if you ask any doctor what the number one way to prevent HIV/AIDS is and you know what they'll tell you.
As for smoking, I agree with you. But lung cancer is but one of the many cancers out there.

Lots of illness is preventable but does it really matter how the disease was contracted. Are some peoples lives less worthy of saving?Let's have commpassion for all regardless of the past.BTW:I'm in my 2nd year of remission from throat cancer caused by smoking.
