It was a terrific resource. Some of us did have problems from time to time -- usually caused by the ILEC.
Note to Sprint ION imitators (which could be everyone if the FCC no-line-sharing rules go through): my biggest problems where related to regular telephone installers interfering with my line, on which they could neither hear nor detect any signal. So, VOIP/DSL MANUFACTURERS, please put an audible signal on those DSLAM to CPE lines -- so the ILEC installers have no excuse if they mess with the customer's line. (I swear that some of those ILEC interference issues were intentional.)
I miss the ION service, features, and cost. I don't miss SBC causing service interruptions every 6 weeks (no kidding) of up to nearly 100 hours.
And I will miss the enthusiasm for the product and mutual aid on this forum. |

new service bundle from Sprint.
I think it's just 38 major metro areas at first, but basically CLEC service, for local, local toll, and long distance, plus those web enabled features.
I would sign up, but I have speakeasy DSL now, and HAVE to be on the ILEC (SBC) so I can't switch, unless I give up Speakeasy.
We can only hope that a data offering will be coming at some point in this bundle, perhaps wireless as well.
I hope anyway.... -- Alan Falk |

Don't laugh. I tried one of my old ION numbers that moved to PacBell to see if I'm eligible. Nope. Then I tried one of my PacBell issued numbers -- Yup, I'm covered.
I'd be tempted to try it except that I'd waste all this time doing a conversion and they'd cancel the service... |

It's just NOT being advertised real big yet, because of all the uproar by the damn ILEC's in congress and the FCC for allowing this kind of leverage by CLEC's. Might wait a few months to see how all of that plays out.
I can't do it yet, as I'm on speakeasy.net and you can't stack TWO Clec services. Damn ILEC's. to have a CLEC provide dsl, like covad/speakeasy, I have to have SBC's local service bastards. -- Alan Falk |
