Re: Save the configuration

Yes you can..

Here's how..

You’ll need a TFTP Server program ( I like SolarWinds) to perform the backup.
It will need to be configured to transmit and receive files.
The security settings for the TFTP server may also have to be configured.

Also make sure the TFTP Server is up and running when you start the next step.

Telnet into the Cayman

At the Cayman-DSL prompt
Type in Upload and hit enter

*** WARNING *** YOU ARE ABOUT TO UPLOAD A CONFIGURATION FILE. IF YOU DO NOT
HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION (TFTP SERVER IP-ADDRESS
AND FILENAME) YOU MAY CANCEL THE INSTALLATION NOW.

Do you wish to proceed? (type yes to confirm)

Enter TFTP server IP address: (IP address of the PC running the TFTP server) and hit enter

Enter file path of image to upload: file name of your current firmware running on your Cayman.. (example c8w630R7.COS) and hit enter

About to upload configuration file:
server: 192.168.1.1
file: "c8w630r7.COS"

Should file upload proceed with this information?
(type `yes' to confirm):

Uploading file. (wait for the prompt to come back)

Type in exit

To install the file back to the Cayman, you would use the same procedures with the exception of "Upload", which would be "Download" instead. Oh, and you'll have to restart the Cayman.

EDIT: Here is a link to SolarWinds. »solarwinds.netstream.ch/pub/Sola···rver.exe

If you need help setting it up, just let us know.

Ahh that makes sense... Thanks

One other question.... I would like to suggest to Netopia that they increase the idle time out value to something greater than an hour in the next firmware, do they take requests like this?

Sure, I'll be glad to add it, after I clean it up a bit.
