 | AMD Identification Tool Here is a nice little program on a website that breaks doown the Stepping and such on an AMD cpu.. The "old timers" (ROFL) already know what these numbers/letters mean.. but for anyone just getting started or those trying to learn..etc... here it is: »www.bloodys.com/scripts/cpu.php -- AMD vs. Intel? It shows my 2100 AIUHB 0248 as a 'downgraded 2600', and a friends chip (2100 AIUHB 0307) as a 'downgraded 2800! -- "Geez, I'm goin' crazy out there at the lake." |

 | reply to Gemologist That sounds cool, but I don't feel like taking my HSF off to get the numbers LOL. -- Despite what you may believe, SBC does not hire psychics |

That probably means you are able to over-clock it to those speeds. |

Nice little tool, thanks! -- None roam so far as the mindless, in search of the right words. |

Neat little trick I learned while building AMD systems for customers..
Take the chip, and put it face down on a scanner/copier and make a "copy" of it to give them as a reference ( I tape it on the inside of the case) so that they won't need to take off the HSF if numbers are needed.;) -- None roam so far as the mindless, in search of the right words. |

 | reply to Gemologist But you did that before you put all the parts together. My CPU is already in there. |

 | Cool, what core is it? I have a 2100+ Palomino - I wonder if its a downgrade. |

Cool beans Look who's on the front page of Hard OCP!.
Posted by Kyle 4:19 PM (CST) What a Tool: This was spotted over in the DSLReports forums by Scott R. If all those codes on your AMD CPU are cryptic to you, this script over at Bloodys.com will help you out. And it even worked with the newest AMD flagship CPU as I tried it out myself.
You just have to enter the three sequences of characters that are found on your processor in the input fields above and click on the Check button. The script then presents you with information about your processor. -- Get Stoned--Skip to the latest entry, since the journal is a bit long and intimidating at this point [text was edited by author 2003-03-16 19:26:18] |

Re: AMD Identification Tool just a small little problem though a Barton 3000+ was downgraded from 2800+? although clicking on the Barton core doesn't actually show the downgrade info.

it did refer the original discover back to this thread though
anyone got any examples 1700 1800 1900 code? [text was edited by author 2003-03-18 18:39:43] |

 | It lists my 2100+ week 0303 t-bred B as a 2700+ which is interesting since I currently have it clocked at 2240mhz at 1.77volts air cooled all the time. Very interesting site! |

 | reply to Gemologist Hmm, so what do we think, is this 'downgraded from...' true and usefull information?
As far as I can figure, I can see why AMD states all the rest of the information on the package of the CPU, but I cannot think of a reason to state what it was downgraded from??? |

Good question.
If we were to assume it is true,
.
It sounds like better info then waiting to see a pattern arise among a specific stepping in order to make a vague prediction about its abilities.
My question would be:
What precisely does downgraded from mean?
Does it mean that you should be able to hit the specified speed/PR without an increase in Vcc?
or
Does it mean that the chip was downgraded because of some deficiency at its originally intended speed/PR? |

| reply to Gemologist another users from the overclocking forum(»Overclocking / Modding) have posted their TBred chip listed them as downgraded from 6200+, but he havn't post a pic of his actual CPU and a screen shot of the script output can't really be use as eveidence as seen by my bogus 9900+ screenshot, but if the 6200+ is indeed true it may shot the "downgrade from" theory down the drain. www.overclockers.com is doing a little poll/invesitgation right now by collecting other users CPU pic and script output pic for analysis |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | reply to Gemologist said by »www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/displa···35.html: According to the source, the seventh and eights marks in the second line of the sticker describes the initial speed the processor was designed for (RFBEXR2280073). If the initial model number is higher than the number you have, it means that your processor has been downgraded.
The owner of the web-site explains that downgraded in this case means that the CPU was not able to maintain full stability at the given rating with default voltage, so it was remarked to a lower model number. For example, 1700+ downgraded from 2400+ means that this CPU cannot work at 2400+ with core voltage 1.6V, but it can probably hit this and maybe even higher frequencies with voltage increase.
Hmmmmm, maybe there is something to this . |
