Hi all, my name is Winnie.
I'm from New York City and I'm 22 years old.
I am currently going to college at CUNY - New York City College of Technology (City Tech for short) majoring in Graphic Arts.
I'm unemployed and poor unless you consider being a full time college student a job.
After the past spring semester of college I have developed a love for photography. I was first exposed to it in high school but it did not draw much interest then because of the poor way it was taught. Other things I enjoy include, watching baseball (Yankees), cycling, reading, and exploring NYC.

Recently my computer has been idle a lot and my friend suggested I do something good with it so I picked this. I've been trying to switch over to using a mac due to almost all of my graphic arts work being mac based, leaving my computer to just sit here.

Sorry for the long winded post. It's 2:30am and I was bored.

My Name is Mike. You will call me other things and I'll probably deserve them all.

I am six years into a second marriage. The first lasted 25 years and resulted in three wonderful sons.

I hold a very minor elected office in my community.

I spent a few years as a court appointed advocate for kids --- it broke my heart and made me behave in a manner that I spent ~25 years since my Marine Corps days trying to overcome. So I stopped.

I retired from a telecommunications company five years or so ago. I'm finally over it and think I'm about ready to go back to work. The neighbors hate that I mow my grass every three days so it's time to be productive again.

Thanks to all of you for your contributions to Team Discovery. I think it is worth while.

Mike

hello

name's Keith, from southeast Pennsylvania, 38 and work in the electricity distribution industry.. been involved somewhat in distributed computing off an on since the mid 90's (RC5 n such).. used to crunch for UD but took a hiatus..

what brought me back - my best friend is fighting a relapse of Hodgkin's, and the daughter of the love of my life was recently diagnosed with a very rare brain cancer soon after her 5th birthday

the feeling of powerlessness watching people I love and care about hurting and not being able to do anything is sometimes overwhelming, about all I can do at the moment is this.. only have one machine crunching right now, wish I could find some more.. tried to convince the employer to take part in UD being they have several hundred brand new 3ghz machines sitting idle for darn near 12 hrs a day but they won't budge.. :-/

Hello all,
My name is Brian and I live just a little west of Knoxville TN.

I am a little new to this but it seemed to be a worthwhile thing to do. I managed to get everything set up and running correctly so I guess that is a good start. I am glad to be part of the team.

Guess it's my turn. I'm Mary and I live in Southern California. No kids, but I do have 1 german shepherd and 5 parrots. Computers are both a hobby and a livelihood. Only have the one computer at the moment but hope my part in crunching can help find the cure.

Hey,

I'm Daniel and I live in St. Louis, MO.

I (currently) work as a data engineer at an ISP. I've never been interested in working for any distributed computing work. I don't belive in aliens, rain forests will still get cut down, and I don't believe mankind will find "a cure."

But, after truly realizing my personal beliefs shouldn't translate into "it will do no good", I decided to contribute what little computing power I could. I figure some sort of comfort can be given to those who are suffering through this research...and I'm sure benefits have already been reaped.

I have a dual PII 400mhz server steadily crunching away.
