| PS2 ONILE WITHOUT MY PC ON!!!!!
O.K. guys/gals I need some people to confirm this.... Blazeking reported that all he did was plug his PS2 in and it worked. He never said what but I got home early from work today and thought I'd try it. here's what happened: Replaced crossover cable between PC and PS2 with a normal patch cable and plugged the cable into my 4 port switch(Linksys). Turned on PS2. set up and new network config. using automatic settings. When it asked if I use a username and password to login, I selected YES. I input my user name as: username@aol.com and typed my password in twice. IT FREAKIN WORKED!!!!!!!! I've only tried it with Socom, and that was just a few minutes ago. What I need you to do is try it yourself so we can find out if it is just a glitch that myself and blazeking are in or if AOL finally wised up......Post back here and let us know. -- [BBR] perrin---Second is the first loser. |

You're not the only one guys. I checked hours ago after blaze made the statement on my neighbors computer....
Jeez!
To tell you the truth. Right now I am confused. Why you may ask?
I tried this very same thing last year (now client, e.t.c) sometime around February and nothing went through...and I mean nothing. PS2 was just sitting their connectionless. Why now? (:) My mind is now going to stay in shadows pondering).
Perhaps AOL finally wised up a bit -- ·.·´¯`·.·Meteor Dive·.·´¯`·.· [text was edited by author 2003-03-19 20:45:47] |

| Yes. The reason behind it all was the fact that AOL is now allowing session via PPPoE clients. As noted here: »Ladies And Gentlemen of the AOL Community... -- ·.·´¯`·.·Meteor Dive·.·´¯`·.· |

| That should be correct, leave all the settings on auto and put in "yourscreename"@aol.com then your password and everything should be ok. But you can't use the same screen name that you are online with at that time. If you have the option, I'd make a new screen name just for your PS2. -- [BBR] perrin---Second is the first loser. join:2003-03-13 Gainesville, GA | have you tried direct connection from the ps2 to the modem? Because it's not letting me in. I'm using Aol DSl and I'm not connected to a router or anything, I'm connected straight to the dsl modem. |

| Haven't tried it straight to the modem, 'cause I've got to be able to let the g/f be online at the same time. But a switch is basically just a splitter, so I wouldn't think that it would make a difference. Can you get online with your PC using the PPPoE set up?? -- [BBR] perrin---Second is the first loser. |

| reply to Perrin I've tried using RASPPOE with my screename on another computer it would let me connect but it wouldn't let me surf using Intenet Explorer. I think it has something to do with the modem. I was using a Broadxent Broadband blaster via the usb port on it. I think someone else in these forums said they had a problem with that modem also when using usb. The laptop i was using then only had a open usb port it didn't have ethernet. And I haven't tried it on any other computer because aol8.0 works on all of them. The computer was operating off Win98 |

When you setup RASPPPOE, on that Win98 machine, did you followed the instructions to set the MTU to 1400 in in properties on the protocol? -- ·.·´¯`·.·Meteor Dive·.·´¯`·.· |

How did you get your router configured?
I tried to hook up a D-Link Router to AOL DSL and couldn't get it to work. Should I use a Linksys Router? |

| reply to Perrin I wasn't using a router or switch or hub. I don't have it connected to anything but to the dsl modem. Straight from the ps2 network adapter to the dsl modem. Today I tried logging into the madden demo. It would let me login and then from there I could go into any of the rooms. I could see everyone messages that they were typing and everything. But when I accept a challenge, or if someone accepted mine, it would just goto the connecting to opponent screen and disconnect like after thirty seconds or so. It would send me back into the room I came from. |

| reply to Perrin I wonder why, AOL couldn't do this from the start. Do u tell me there top technicians just figure to enable pppoe, so people can go online without networking threw wingate. they made Joe go threw all that trouble in figuring out a way to network AOL and the ps2, when they could have done this from the start. -- (I) F*%k with your soul like ether(Will) Teach you the king you know you(Not) "God's son" across the belly(Lose) I prove you lost already |
