Demax, you might want to check into a little something called "Letter of Authorization" A commonly known technique that telecommunications use to inform of there wishes to all others including CLECs, ILECs, and the FCC, not to mention the customers. Just some FYI for you to check into before making comments.

I don't have a beef with AT&T buying NP equipment, but I sure do when they make 2nd Copper Line dead. Yes, their sitting on it. That's called: " Busy Pair Issue " in case you never heard of it GJ.
AT&T never installed my second house line nor did Northpoint, they just rented it. It's time to let it go if they don't allow the Line to be used for what it was intended to be. It's becoming a bad habit of large corporations to trample on Consumers and buying our Congress. Maybe it's time to throw all the bums out and start a new leaf. |

AT&T didn't take NP's subscriber base because they just wanted to dump the low cost residential contracts. No doubt AT&T will offer quality DSL service but you can bet it won't be cheap. If you're going to pay top dollar for DSL service there are plenty of good alternatives. Some folks may go crawling to AT&T to get their old Copper Rocket line back for five times the money, the way AT&T hopes we all will, but I'm sure not. I hope I'm wrong, I hope that AT&T will offer reasonably priced residential SDSL, but I'm not holding my breath. In the mean time, who knows, maybe a little bad PR will have an effect on the rate structure AT&T offers. Besides are big companies supposed to be able to dish out any crap they want with no repercussions at all? It's certainly productive for consumers to speak out and stand up for themselves. No matter how feeble, it sure beats doing nothing. |

Now that is the best yet, someday when you realize your futility of the issue. Perhaps then you will understand that directing your aggression towards me, is only a displacement of your true feelings of animosity towards AT&T. But even though is this the case, you need to find a healthier output of your feelings. I hope this information helps.

Chipinphilly, I am having a hard time understanding what your witty (low quality at that) have to do with the subject at hand. That subject in case you have forgotten has to do with AT&T taking over NP's equipment. Using big words doesnt scare me, what does bother me is the useless remarks you have to discuss in this forum when you can think of nothing else to reply with. Makes one wonder how you cope with real life if that is your idea of a discussion. But then again I should be understanding, you are just fulfilling your role of being that certain percentage that isnt that bright to begin with. 1. AT&T did nothing _illegal._ What they did was completely reprehensible, however, and totally immoral.
2. It isn't _my_ petition. I didn't start it, a fact that has failed to register on many brains more completely preoccupied by finding a burger and a coke. If you don't believe me, click the petition link and read the fine print.

If you want the question better defined for your small brain I would be more than happy to. If AT&T WERE doing something illegal in buying Northpoints equipment at the "steal of deal" rate that they got it for, why hasnt some government agency or commission stepped up and sued or taken proper action against AT&T? Perhaps because possibly they didnt do anything WRONG? Grow up, welcome to DSL business, and take on a better cause - maybe something worth fighting for. Northpoint is dead if you havent read the papers.

Otherwise I would be surely amiss to even feel adequate enough to discuss with you in any forum the consequances of AT&T buying Northpoints equipment.
