[XP] Registry and computer cleaning & error free pc

Ive been using all of these programs each after the other and each one finds something wrong and fixes it that the other one doesnt find its really annoying to cycle from program to program Is there any program that can do better than these for those of you people that have tested them.
i use
system mechanic , reg cleaner 4.8,Unnecessary Files, advanced system optimizer , tweak xp pro, and norton systemworks windoctor and cleansweep
thanks

this is overkill the only tools i haven't used are tweak xp pro & Unnecessary Files.

it will be difficult to find the perfect tool...i would try and limit it to using two dedicated registry cleaning tools which may\may not have the added benefit of clearing files... at a push... use a third tool to help finish cleaning up files perhaps windoctor or tweakxp pro? (Norton WinDoctor is pretty good IMO. I'd probably keep it on standby as a third tool unless i though TweakXP Pro was better. Cleansweep is one you can cross off your list straight away... it does not record or remove all registry entries.)

i have only used JV16 with XP but i would recommend it above those you have mentioned e.g System Mechanic. take a look at these threads for some more recommendations.

System Mechanic or jv16 Power Tools?
Safe/Easy Program To Delete Registry Entries?
Best Windows XP registry cleaner?
JV16 reg cleaner

for future reference... before recommending any of the tools i would suggest using an installation monitor e.g InCtrl5, InstallWatch. even though these are not cleanup tools they do a better job than Cleansweep of recording registry and file entries. Installation monitors will cut the amount of utilities you are currently using by 70%. personally i wouldn't use anything other than an installation log to double-check an effective reg-cleaning session. even though it is a little off-topic have a read of this thread for my comments on installation monitors uninstaller software

*edit* unless they beat you to it ask a mod to move this post to the software forum... you'll get more feedback.

Another great reg cleaner that few will ever mention, is Ace utilities. It did great on the tests on the JV 16 powertools web site. It comes with alot of other useful tools as well, and has a windows XP style interface. They have a 30 day trial. Keizer

well somehow i managed to mess up my computer so that it starts up extremely slow . this was before i used regseeker to clean my registry i forgot to remove the norton registry files cause i didnt see them so now its time to reinstall norton and maybe even reformat my computer because i cant seem to fix this startup issue . I thought i backed up my files before i did this guess not

Its easy to become over zealous when it comes to registry cleaning. I don't think there is one tool that will do the "perfect" job. They all use different criteria and err on the side of caution. I use several cleaning and maintenance tools myself, but I also don't install a lot of junk and beta programs.

I also keep backup Ghost images of my system in different states of installations so i can always go back to a pristine Windows install or a more current install with more apps and tweaks.

Backing up and restoring the registry gets a bit more complicated with W2K and XP.
