Westell Diagnostic Icon

There were many people looking for the Diagnostic Icon software for Westell modems. If you are still in need of this software let me know.

Yes, the Westell utility works perfectly with my C90 (revision F).

Re: Westell C-90 specifications...

Hi... new member today.

I know I am out of topic but I have a question regarding specifications for the Westell C-90xxx ADSL Modem. In particular, the upstream and downstream speed. Is it the same or comparable to the new 2100 Wirespeed Modem currently being sold? And might you know when the C-90 was discontinued by Westell.

We are rolling out a new network and I just received 20+ of the C-90 modems from a local supplier... they look used and come with no documentation. Can you help?

Regards,
Joseph

Hi Joseph and welcome to DSLR!

Here are the current Westell product brochure and the manual for the 36R516 (C90) DSL modem.

The Westell C90-36R516 is most similar to the new Westell 2000. Both are "bridge" ADSL modems which connect to a personal computer or external router via ethernet. The Westell 2100 has both ethernet and USB interfaces, and also includes a built-in NAT router with PPPoE support.

For those using Windows XP, if you have problems with Diagnostic Icon, you might want to try running it under Windows 98. I was able to work around my problem that way.

Re: Westell Diagnostic Icon

Westell Diagnostics won't install telling me it doesn't support my model. I have B90-36R515. What gives?

Will the software work through a router?

No, your DSL modem needs to be directly connected to your PC for the Westell utility to work.

Hi, that's odd. Can you please post a screen capture? Also, have you upgraded your Westell to Firmware 6.01.02 ? If not, give that a shot. You can get the firmware upgrade here: »https://www.westell.com/content/verizon/···rade.exe

Good luck!

Well fellows:

I tried installing the software on my trusty old B90 515 and it would not load. I, however, also own a newer B90 516. When I tried installing it on that modem it installed and ran.

Out of curiosity, after I successfully completed the install, I then rehooked up my old 515 and tried to run the installed program on it: it ran fine!!!

I also had tried running the program through my router but it alas could not find the modem. I noticed I had trouble telneting to my router after that(!), but I rebooted and it appears to run fine now, abiet slow for some reason in telnet mode. I hope the software did not try to mess up my router!

Very strange indeed.
