| Comcast Blows is an understatement
I moved into the apartment I'm in now strictly for @home broadband. I had NO 0 Nadda a single problem until comcast took over. About 2 weeks after they started playing Comcast commercials in my area to "Warm the public" My modem just suddenly stops working. Cannot recieve. I call them. They couldn't have anybody to my house for 3 days. So, I spent the entire weekend without internet. This greatly frustrated me because I'm a gamer and we had a clan match that weekend. Well during this weekend I watched an awful lot of television. I ended up calling comcast that following Monday after my internet was repaired (one of their techs just randomly put a filter on my line) and canceled all but the digital cable. Wife has to have that because she has to have the friendly GUI. (BLEH! It's just more advertising if you ask me. I thought of my Dad telling me to chose my battles wisely and left that one alone.) So after that was fixed everything was fine for awhile until about 3 nights ago. As I mentioned I'm a gamer and for the last 3 nights my ping when gaming has been ranging from 300 to 500. So I started asking clanmates if they were having any problems. One of them who was also recently migrated to comcast logged onto our game server and had the exact 300 ping as me. 2 hours went by and at 12 A.M. 3 other clanmates all recently migrated from @home all had the same ping. I cannot believe how shitty that is. One person lives in Oregon, one in Denver, one in California, and one in Michigan. Have these assmunches at comcast changed our speed???
At this point in time I'd rather have Qwest DSL if comcast doesn't get there heads removed from there buttox very quickly. |

Reciently migrated from @home? @home has been dead for over a year!
Comcast does not run a national backbone as @home attempted to do. Once you reach the Headend of your local system you are handed off to one of the various operators of the internet backbone, who then follow their own routing procedures to get your traffic to and from the site you are attempting to contact. The times you are complaining about are not in any manner controlled by Comcast! The times you report are just a reflection of the amount of traffic on the Internet or congestion at various routing points. |

| Oh, sorry Mjc. Didn't get my copy of ISP Today this month.
You obviously get my point or you wouldn't have added your 2 cents about the autopsy of @home broadband.
The ping times are still a problem though. I do not think it is Comcast anymore. After thinking about it; if you purchased a whole ISP/CABLE/PHONE provider, would you change anything? The amount of man hours involved in doing such would be next to slave labor.
