Re: Cable TV Forum Proposal
*sign*
Main Entry: broad·band Pronunciation: 'brod-"band Function: adjective Date: 1956 1 : operating at, responsive to, or comprising a wide band of frequencies 2 : of, relating to, or being a communications network in which a frequency range is divided into multiple independent channels for simultaneous transmission of signals (as voice, data, or video)
strictly following the Merriam-Webster definition of broadband, it certainly does seem that Cable and Satellite television falls under the broadband classification - so that should make such a topic appropriate for this site. |

Must be all the new rage here, first you are not allowed to discuss certain aspects of Computer Hardware in the Computer Hardware forums,(especially when you see stickies from the mods saying "enough of this shit!", and hardware company reviews get "moved" into the Rants-Raves forum) now you cannot discuss Comcast TV in the Comcast (recently changed in the last few days to Comcast HSI )forum due to "popular demand".

Preparations are in progress. That being the case, it seems to me that the prudent thing to do is delay enforcement here until the new forum is up and running. (A day or two, I hope) So for now, no changes. Once the new forum is up, any active threads that belong there will be moved.
Game over.

*sign* Moving TV related questions to a forum of their own is a great idea. So is creating one on THIS website, as the people here tend to have knowledge in both the Internet and TV side of Cable, and are usually quite helpful.

Re: Cable TV Forum Proposal I also **sign**
But, I don't think we should group cable tv and satellite tv users into one big forum. That could lead to ongoing discussions about which service is better, cable or satellite. And we know that there will be a lot of disagreement on that subject here.
We could start with a cable tv forum and if there is enough demand, a separate satellite tv forum. [text was edited by author 2003-04-11 14:58:28] |

This will prevent the exclusion of those users who come here exclusively for TV problems, no matter how small they may be. |

I have reservations, and I think I saw it touched on here. This was suggested because of a decision in the *Comcast* forum.
It happens that currently in the Optimum Online forum, the Cable and OOL discussions are at least living in harmony and no one is proposing splitting them out, of course there is probably a order of magnitude between CV and Comcast subscriber numbers too.
A generic "Cable TV" forum would be a nightmare, you'd have those annoying [Topics] breaking it down by your provider, and you'd be searching it to try and find the [Comcast] thread and ignore the [Adelphia] or [TW] thread, because who wants to read someone ranting about them not carrying {insert this channel} in Montana when you live in Wisconsin....
So then you'll get requests here "Split the "Cable TV" forum up by company" and then "Why doesn't my cable company have its own forum"
