Most of those servers will moved to the rackmount enclosure next to it. pic 014.jpg - Our new Dell rack cabinet pic 015.jpg - Dell cabinet open. The sweet part is the slide out LCD KVM drawer. Even the servers slide out for maintenance. pic 016.jpg - Yes yes I know its messy. As soon as we get our new switch in, I'll repost this rack when its neat. pic 017.jpg - Structured cabling from workstation and printers pic 018a.jpg - my pride and joy -- Are you afraid of daemons? |

summoner Premium join:2001-07-11 Ho Ho Kus, NJ clubs: | Yeah netware is still supported and they are partnered up with Dell. What's the last version of netware you worked on? 2 or 3? Novell is releasing Netware 6.5 this year which we're upgrading to. -- Are you afraid of daemons? |

| reply to summoner I see your a Dell fan, very nice setup! What type of business is it? I've been to a few schools and offices who run Novell, I can't get my head around it. Is it a replacement for NT/2000? I saw alot of 1U Compaq Novell servers that ran for hundreds of WYSE Winterms at one datacentre I have visited. They was running Windows 2000 with some Novell program, something like that anyway. -- Click here to visit my Cable Modem Microsite |

| reply to webmonky We're a debt collection law firm. We run several databases and netware hosts the most important one. Basically if this database goes down, our business grinds to a halt. Best way to think of Netware... Think of it as easy unix. Keeps up with unix in terms of stability, uptime and security but the interface is a hell of alot easier. There is some command line but its all web based administration and java applets. There is a GUI but you can shut it down to get better performance on the server. Its just an alternative to microsoft in both applications and operating system. Our netware boxes serve file and print and host our main applications and databases. When we move to netware 6.5 we'll move DNS/DHCP from win2k on to the netware box. We also use Active directory and Novell Directory Services (NDS). -- Are you afraid of daemons? |

My guess is that they want a reliable OS and that's why they chose, and still use, Netware... -- -= Mindspring MaxDSL via Covad 1536/384 TeleSurfer Pro =- |

| reply to summoner Yeah I double that with Netware. We runing mix OS here in my office. We have Win2k,Netware 5.1 and 6.0. I like the 6.0 better(5.1 almost the same) because the iFolder and iPrint. I travel alot, so I use iFolder alot, it very niffy piece of tool. Great OS too, I gotta say. Im still fiddling with Linux now..Need to get used with it. -- RT314RAS Firmware ver 3.25(CA.0) |

| reply to summoner very nice ! but damn, how did you get to have 3x monitor systems on each desk ?
that lot must have cost $$$$$$$$$ !!
anyhow, I see lots of ports used in that relay rack (connected to those Intel hubs), where do all these go ?
can we have some more "up-close" pics of the rack with the Cisco, Watchguard and other kit please ?
oh btw, where did you get that star trek wallpaper from ? I really want it !! |

| I have 2 PCs, the first one has just one monitor and the second PC (p4 3.06, 1 gig ram 80 gig hd) had a radeon with 2 dvi flatpanels attached. All those ports on the patch panels represent a user or a printer, bout 8 or so printers on the network. I'll try to get some other pics of the user area but that might be kinda hard, some people dont like getting there picture taken. Those 6 year old intel switches have had it and fail every so often. We are on the verge of getting another switch, looks like it wil be an alcatel omniswitch 7800. »www.ind.alcatel.com/nextgen/inde···nt=index My boss is a trekkie so I'll ask him about the wallpaper. -- Are you afraid of daemons? Yeah IFolder and IPrint are great tools. I like IPrint especially because from anywhere I can connect to my printer at home and print out a page. I was going to buy a fax machine for this purpose but not anymore. -- Are you afraid of daemons? |
