LemonTonic join:2001-06-22 Westminster, MD	Login to the comcast.net page and go to MyWebPages. Install a cheapo lil program they use for FTP'ing. On the left you'll find all your files on your computer. On the right is the files that are on your webspace. Highlight what you want to upload, and click publish. After a file is uploaded, you can view it with this format: »mywebpages.comcast.net/username/filename to view a certain file or »mywebpages.comcast.net/username to view a list of files you have uploaded

And then tell them how to call up the web page. The web page can be the default "index.html" page or any other name you want to call it. For an example to look at try this webpage: »mywebpages.comcast.net/moebius/index.html This is what someone would put in their browser address bar: "http://mywebpages.comcast.net/moebius/index.html" Of course instead of moebius you would have your username in that space. Just ftp to mywebpages.comcast.net and log in with your account name and password. If you decide to use some kind of graphical based ftp client, just make sure it doesn't come bundled with spyware etc. Do some searching on Google, etc. to find a good one. I like WSftp (ipswitch.com) has a very nice graphical client which used to be free, but is now pretty pricey. Anyway, sounds like you're getting the info you need! Happy Imagehosting, Uzr

If I see the link "http://www.domain.com/username-or-directory/subdirectory/page.html", there's nothing too keep me from taking a peek at "http://www.domain.com/username-or-directory/subdirectory" just to see what's there. So, if you DON'T want people seeing a list of the contents, be sure to put an index.html page in the directory or subdirectory. But for the fun of it I just setup a Comcast one after seeing this thread, and made a folder for pics after logging onto Comcast.net and accessing my personal area. »mywebpages.comcast.net/tando/pics I used their FTP interface which is actually better than others I have seen that are browser page based. I use Cute FTP for my own domain, and I can not get it to connect to my Comcast account now using the info in the first few posts here. I have my username, pw, and this line entered into Cute FTP: mywebpages.comcast.net It won't work. Anyway, it looks like the pics are accessible outside of their domain too, which is good for linking on forums. Also, what is that File Locker feature? I uploaded a file to it also. Robot Army join:2002-08-27 Catonsville, MD clubs:	The file locker is basically a personal FTP storage space for files you want to transfer. To get access to it, you must use a personal (as opposed to anonymous ) FTP login. FWIW, I use the mywebpages folder of my identitites rather than the file locker for everything. One of the cool benefits of uploading to the mywebpages folder is that, if you specify the exact path to a .zip file (or other archive) you have up there in the address line of your browser (ie- »mywebpages.comcast.net/[yourname···ile].zip (or .gz), you can download the file w/out using an FTP client (and since it's zipped, you don't have to worry about it corrupting on download). And, of course, nobody will know it's there as long as 1) you haven't deleted or you HAVE replaced your "index.html" file (so the directory doesn't display like a file tree) 2) there are no links to the file(s) referenced in any of your html docs. -- #fsck /dev/cortex [text was edited by author 2003-04-18 20:59:32]*

I have "mywebpages.comcast.net" plugged into the FTP host addy for Cute FTP, then below my username & password, and port 21 which is default. I just got off the phone with Tech Support, and he uses Cute FTP with other stuff, but he doesn't know how to do it with Comcast's home pages. I told him the settings I have, and he put me on hold and looked all around the help section, and did not see the info at all. Don't use MyWebpages, USE myfilelocker. Host: myfilelocker.comcast.net User ID: Comcast User ID Password: DUH! I check Passive mode, and I'm in..
