amen. -- We'll be incredibly lucky to make it out of this decade without an attack that dwarfs 9/11 due to the current U.S. led war. |

| reply to Streetwalker I get the impression that none of these listed commentators are business owners, or independent professionals. I hardly think wanting to get paid for the services you provide, no matter how much money you already have, makes you a whore. If that were the case (maybe it is) most Americans and all business people would be whores.
The music business is just that; a business. While I must admit that I happily take part in file swapping, I have to defend these poor artists who are the first to see this phenomenal change in the industry thanks to widespread technology. We deserve a bogus file especially one which, instead of yielding silence, let's the artist's voice on the subject be heard. As you've all pointed out it's quite easy to get one's hands on the file so I think if anything she should be applauded for her creativity.
Bottom Line: Based on our Economic Methods, we pay for that which we desire, and while a little file swapping might be harmless (and for us, awesome) these artists have a right to be pissed off.
I'm off to go download the bogus file!!! Thanks Madonna!!! |

| It's short sighted if you ask me. Most of the independent labels... the ones who are embracing file sharing... have seen steady and sizable increases in their sales. Madonna apparently has listened to the RIAA's party line and fell for it. Selling her songs at about $1.50 for the mp3? Is she nuts?!?! That's even more than what the record labels are charging and you see how well their online distribution model is working. Madonna is making a bad move here. She can make a good deal more money working with the technology instead of fighting against it. -- Love Science Fiction? www.spacestationzoom.com |

I wouldn't say that. Considering she owns a major label (Maverick Records), which operates under the umbrella of Warner Bros. Music, she most likely didn't fall for the RIAA party line, she probably authored it! -- Pissed off at traitorous, ungrateful musicians? Don't just boycott them! It's not a creative act in any sense; it has been done before, and all it is is Madonna in the imperative uttering some profanity. She should have actually *said* something. It *could* have been creative had she given it more thought. -- Time is an abstract concept invented by carbon based life forms to monitor their constant decay.-Thunderclese |
