*** Forum Guidelines (Updated June 22, 2009)

1) Read this -> »Site FAQ »What are the Rules on Posting?

2) Never write anything you wouldn't want said to your mother, your father and/or your boss (or teachers if you're still in school).

3) On topic posts make threads more meaningful.

4) Please read other threads at least back a couple of index pages ... the answer to your question is probably already there!

5) Dealing with Rogers can be an exercise in frustration but lets not take it out on each other. Please don't start a new thread just so you can add your own frustration to the list.

UPDATE:

Posts about Rogers Digital TV should go here ...

or here

»Cable & Satellite TV

Due to a change in policy at digitalhomecanada, it appears to now be difficult for posters to use that forum. As a result we will now ACCEPT limited technical and customer service type questions and comments about Rogers TV in this forum. Please check the TV box or put a [TV] designation in the header when posting.

Not for knocking

Please don't simply post to knock Rogers and in the same post, promote the competition like Bell Internet or TekSavvy or Acanac etc.

The forum exists for Rogers users to discuss ROGERS ... not other companies. If you want to diss Rogers, fine ... they often seem to deserve it.

The Bell Canada and Canadian broadband and other forums forums are just down the hall ...

Canadian Broadband Forum to discuss general issues of broadband in Canada and ISPs without their own forums.

Bell Canada to discuss issues directly related to Bell Interent and related services.

Remember This is the ROGERS forum.

It is NOT the ... Secureix forum
It is NOT the ... Find me a better ISP forum
It is NOT the ... Bell Canada or Teksavvy forum

Other forums exist to discuss these things. Sure, it's a little inconvenient to go off elsewhere to discuss stuff, but it also becomes a little inconvenient for people who want to come into THIS forum to discuss Rogers and find the front index page full of topics about other ISPs, or a whole host of topics whose only commonality is that they are posted by people who've routinely posted in Rogers forum.

Usage - legal or not - is not our concern here

There are too many snipes about whether users are downloading stuff that's legal, copyright, or porn or whatever.

These snipes are not acceptable. How the service is being used is between the user and Rogers and between the user and the holder of the copyright (if applicable) - NOT between any of us and the user.

If you have a complaint about Rogers service being used illegally or misused, then your complaint should be directed at Rogers, not at other users in Broadband Reports. Just remember that in making your complaint, that it is currently NOT illegal to download music in Canada. It may or may not be illegal to download movies or software - that's for the courts to decide. The laws re uploading are different too and will depend on many factors. Remember the DMCA under which the US RIAA and MPAA are trying to prosecute people are AMERICAN laws which are not directly applicable in Canada.

If you have complaints about the service being misused to the detriment of your service, then the complaint again should be made to Rogers.

Judging people in this forum is not acceptable. This is trolling. These comments are inflammatory and not necessary. The content of what someone uploads / downloads is not of significant relevence, be it transfer of porn, warez or totally legit files.
