| Loosing Connection Between WAP54g and BEFSR41/81
I have had constant problems with my new wireless network and I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestion. I have the WAP connected to the (wired) router and the cable modem is connected to the WAN port on the router. I frequently loose my "internet gateway" in the network properties box. I will be checking email or surfing the internet and all of a sudden I loose internet connectivity. I have switched out my befsr81 for my friend's befsr41 and that didn't help. I have upgraded firmware on all devices and that didn't work. I have RMA'd the WAP to the vendor and that didn't work. I am getting ready to chuck this all in the dumpster and start running CAT 5 cable throughout my house.
Please Help! |

| mroy I've noticed the same problem. I recently picked up a BEFSR41 to try to run VPN with. It is firmware 1.44.3.
Right now I have the WAP54g hooked up to my BEFSX41 (doesn't support VPN w/ SecuRemote) running 1.44.8, and that seems to keep the connection going.
I've been trying to find later firmware for the BEFSR41. |

| reply to mroy3 I have a SR41 with a WRT54G as switch/AP and have no problems keeping the WRT connected to the SR41. I and other have had problems using WPA. It seems the connection would drop out every now and then. I don't think it's the SR41 router that's giving you problems. I think it's the connection between the PC card and the WAP. I have turned off WPA and just use the AP open with MAC filtering and I don't broadcast my SSID. I never have a drop now. -- Are You Ready--Stand By BEEP ******** |
