[Anime] Rurouni Kenshin "Kyoto Arc" in June

From 'Animation Insider':

"Cartoon Network has updated its online schedules for June, and the new listings indicate that June 9th will bring new episodes of the hit Toonami show, Rurouni Kenshin. That Monday, the episode titled "The Strongest Opponent From the Past: Merciless Fangs Strike" will mark the beginning of the "Kyoto Arc" -- lauded by many Kenshin fans as the best (and most violent) part of the series."

Re: [Anime] Rurouni Kenshin "Kyoto Arc" in June

Almost makes me wish I had Cartoon Network

I thought this arc of the series was the absolute best. I have the whole series and I still haven't watched much after this arc- the last arc isn't that good IMHO. My favorite part is when Hiko Seijuro fights Fuji, and uses the Kuzu Ryu Sen on him. I won't say any more

I'm glad to see some one is interested in the information. Thanks CS_Buddy for taking time to post. I'm getting a little discouraged around here.

Please don't be discouraged, Caliban. I, for one, don't have much time in my schedule these days; and with summer coming up, I foresee activity on this page slowing down until September as people take vacations and stuff. I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly appreciate the news updates you provide.

Can't remember, but hopefully someone can tell me- whats the name of the guy who teamed up with Saito to kill Kenshin- the guy who uses a kusari-gama (sickle and chain) and hidden chains, and has the weird scars on his face?

I know I am late but hott damnn Kenshin Heura is tight. I have watched it from the beginning and I think I need to get the real series. That guy has some skills. They are on the part where he is on his joruney to Koyoto. Man it is good, and the part where he left Mrs. Megumi was really good too!! I usually hate romance and crap, but it was actually bearable

Hehe vic, I'm not trying to pick on you but his name is Kenshin Himura. Also, Kenshin didn't say goodbye to Megumi, he said it to Kaoru.

mrbtheguy, they have shown all the episodes preceding the Kyoto arc. I agree with you that the series after the Kyoto arc left out arguably the best part of the manga, the Enishi arc.

Anyway, seeing Kenshin on CN is still entertaining despite the heavy editing.

Has CN even showed all the other episodes before the kyoto arc?
Roughly the series is about 96 eps
I also suggest you guys read the manga as well because the series ended with filler episodes after the long kyoto story
and there's a lot of good stuff the series did'nt include
(Enishi) etc etc

DAMN IT!!!

Why didn't I read your post earlier....I lost track of time and forgot to catch the new episodes

Nothing I hate more than missing 5 episodes.

I'm gonna go drown my sorrows in ZOE.

I like the good mix of comedy. Some of it actually is funny!

Like whent he police dude met Kenshin and that annoying brat in the woods and started thinking of the animal faces lmfao!

Its like they go from goofy graphics to serious animation during the fights I love that. DBZ had an entire episode drawn in sub par fashion but then the episode afterwards would have extremly good animation, it got kind of annoying.

Re: [Anime] Rurouni Kenshin "Kyoto Arc" in June

His hair didn't actually get longer, he just lowered his head which made it appear longer. Basically, he got super pissed when Chou threatened to kill the kid and that manslayer switch in his head tripped.

I saw that episode today and I was very impressed with it!!! |spoiler: he didn't know that the sword he was given to use at the last minute was a reverse-blade sword and he used it anyways...only later to find out he hadn't broken his vow to never kill again... |!!!

Thanks for clearing that up. Last I remember seeing him was when he was a little kid holding a sword in the OVA. He sure looks different now.

I dont mean to be a jerk or anything, but what do you see in this kenshin anime? sure, its deeper than most cartoon network fare (though i harken back to gundam wing. they day they stopped that was the day i stoped paying much attention to toonami) but, as a swordsman i can testify to this, its not as realistic as they would have you think. Not that that matters, but it bugs me.

I've bought most of the subs of the series (before it came to cartoon network), and the kyoto arc is admitedly quite good, esp. when compared to the earlier arcs.

It's an anime that knows when it's time for the "bubble eyes" and sweat drops to appear.

The fight scenes are very well done, and in most cases if not all, absent of all "comedic" pauses...

It's about as close to a real-life Anime sci-fi drama as you can get...

And when they appear, they are hilarious! All of Kenshin's bubble-eyes make my laugh for some reason, and Ken and Sano hiding on the roof making bug noises after Yahiko's fight had me in tears.

Something about making a extremely serious character have that super-rare comedy moment works too, i.e. the bit with Saito when he told Ken and Misao that he had a wife (of course, Saito was stone-faced as always), and the sequence ending with him calling Misao "weasel girl".

As much as I enjoyed Trigun, if they had made Vash more serious throughout the series his funny moments would have been that much more enjoyable.

I must concede that the timing of the googley eyes and such in this anime are usually spot on.
