said by buzzmag : Version 2.11.15.0. downloaded a few days ago.
With the Westell B90-36R515-01 that file will install as ver 1. Make sure no fire-walls are enabled. If you have a router you must remove it. Make sure you are set to get IP automatically. I had to connect with WinPoet to get the program to see the modem. |

| reply to bblebou I have the Westell B90-36R516-01 modem and the only tab I get with the browser is the Administration tab. The other tabs don't show up. Any ideas? I'm connected directly to the computer with no router or s/w firewall. Is it because it's an older modem? -- Always Reach Beyond Your Grasp |

| Hello all,
Just wanting to get some opinions. My noise margin is what concerns me ... though I've yet to lose full sync since running a dedicated wire from Bell's entry to the apartment building.
Should I be concerned? Is there anything else that could be done to improve the margin, or is this simply a product of having my maximum attainable speed? (ie. if I had 1-meg service, would the margin appear higher?)
Thanks,
-- Steve
P.S. Just noticed this is a Verizon thread .... stumbled here reading Westell Modem Browser threads ... sorry, my telco is Bell Canada in Toronto. [text was edited by author 2003-06-21 00:07:43] |

| Hi again,
I discovered that when I unplugged my regular telephones, my noise margin increased fairly significantly. I've now changed my setup, and have improved the margin with my telephones plugged in. Here is how it looks now.

Anything wrong here? is there a reason why im not getting 1.5 megabits? |

You are provisioned for the new speed. Verizon advertises 1500/128 but provision for 1792/160, they eat the over head. Some times the test is off. |

so the browser utility shows you getting 1792, but the speed test shows 730? quite a few people i know, including me, are having the same issue...verizon says from their end it looks like they are getting 1792, but their speed tests are half or less.
and none of the documentation for the browser utility mentions (that i could see) the newest B99-211015-001, just B90. do they have one for this newer model? apparently it has some router-like features that are interfering with my router and reducing speeds.
and since you have to hook up the modem directly (without router) for the utility, do i have to install raspppoe first, since my only pppoe is supplied by the router?

| reply to bblebou I have the Westell B90-210015-04 modem. Wonder why I can't get it to show all the stats.. I just got this modem on Monday.. I was on Frame Relay and switched to ATM.. Notice my sync speed.. I'm happy with 1.3Mbps but would be happier with 1.5Kbps thoughput. I'm an old GTE customer who had Frame Relay Bronze Plus for at least 4 or 5 years before this switch-over. |
