IzyBellaYogs BellaPremium join:2002-05-17 Mascoutah, IL | Fireworks anyone? Does anyone here use Fireworks MX? I want to know how to do this »members.aol.com/bemymind/howtoglitter.html with Fireworks...this only has a tutorial using PSP. I have PSP, but I have been learning Fireworks and would like to know how to do it there, too:) -- I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light, and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, We are One. | | | I use fireworks MX.
I will play around with it tonight and see what I can come up with. | | lemekimPremium join:2002-02-11 Philadelphia, PA | reply to IzyBella Well, here is a "translation" of that tutorial into Fireworks. This doesn't mean that there isn't a better way to achieve glitter effect in Fireworks, especially if you have some Eye Candy Plugins But this will tell you exactly how to get the same thing as that glitter tutorial does.
First of all, download the glitter file that was use in other tutorial (»www.members.aol.com/bemymind/how···a-05.gif), and open it in Fireworks. Open Layer, Frames and Properties windows - you will need them in this tutorial.

Now that you opened it, you will see that the image has 3 frames. Before we work on our glitter image, we will need to prepare the glitter textures from this file. Make sure you are on first frame. We will take each frame and save it separately. Go to File-Export Preview

Once you are in there, make sure that GIF export option is selected, and not animated GIF.

Save it somewhere you will find it easily, and name it appropriately

Now that you created the first texture, click on second frame and repeat the above steps to export second texture

Export the third one after you finished with the other 2.
Now we can start on actually creating a glitter text. Create a new blank image, transparent will probably be best choice.

Write some text in a font that you like, and go to the Frames menu.

In the Frames menu, select "duplicate frame" (from the little drop down menu in the top right). After you select it, create 2 duplicate slides after the current image:

Now select the first frame again, and click on the text to activate it. In the properties menu, you will see many attributes, including one that looks like color. Click on it:

You will see a big "Fill Options" button - click on that to bring up fill menu. In the Fill menu, the top dropdown menu lists choices, ranging from solid color to pattern - select the pattern choice:

In these patterns, scroll all the way down, where you will see "other" option. Click on it:

This will bring up navigation menu, where you can select your own custom pattern, find the first glitter pattern that we exported:

After you do that, your text in the first frame should look something like this:

Change to the second frame:

Repeat the above steps for changing texture, except select the second and third textures that we saved respectively. After you change the pattern on all frames, you can play around with timing in the "Frames" menu to get the best effect:

Now go to the "Export preview" menu again. Now make sure that "Animated GIF" option is selected:

And export it! You now have a glitter image!

One note though - if you have a static outline or text that you wish to "glitterize", you cannot change the pattern from the properties menu. But all you have to do is use Paint Bucket tool to fill the non-transparent parts of the image with the pattern.

Notice that "preserve transparency" option is selected so that only the solid images get filled, and "fill selection" is selected to make sure that the whole layer gets filled.
I hope this helps! There are several other ways to "glitterize" in Fireworks, but the easiest one uses Eye Candy filter =(

| | reply to IzyBella Lemekin just about covered it but here is one I typed up just incase you want to read it:
1. Open a new doc, type in some text.
2. In FWMX use the color selector and choose "fill options" (I used the oilpaint2, oilpaint 3 patterns and boosted the brightness/contrast)
3. Open your frames window and at the top right corner pull down that menu and select "duplicate frame" (I called for 3 duplicates, plus the original = 4 frames)
4. Go through each frame and create a different color for each.
5. When you're done with that, click the little "play" button in the lower LH side of Fireworks.
That's it!!
You can experiment with different fills and patterns (Anyone got a glitter pattern?) but basically that's the root of how to do it. -- NZ-INC! ¤ Progs, Humour, Pranks, Toolz, Tutorialz, Wallpaper, and More! ¤ NZ-INC! | | IzyBellaYogs BellaPremium join:2002-05-17 Mascoutah, IL | reply to IzyBella Thanks a bunch Lemekim and nullzilla! Looks like it will do great! I haven't had a chance yet to mess with it since I have other projects to finish up. But as soon as I am done with those, I am digging into this first:) Thanks:) I may end up with questions at some point..LOL You definitely went into some great detail and I'm sure it took a lot of time to do that for me..thanks! -- I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
