| WLAN reconfiguration after change of hard drive
I have a desktop and a laptop running windows XP Home Edition connected via a Linksys WLAN system and a router to the internet via an ntl broadband cable modem. I have just updated the hard drive on the laptop from 6 to 40 GB and following reformatting and reinstallation of XP and appropriate drivers, I cannot get the WLAN to work even though the WLAN card on the laptop is functioning. Any ideas anyone? |

| The obvious question is...did you reload the Linksys drivers for the WLAN card?
If you did then can give more details? How do you know the WLAN card is functioning? What model is your WLAN card and what are you using as an access point or router? |

| Dear Seasteve
Yes I did reload the Linksys drivers. My hardware is as follow: Instant Wireless WPC11 - Network adapter - PC Card in the laptop (client) and Linksys EtherFast Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router with a 4-Port Switch in the main PC.
I have not touched the main computer. The laptop WLAN card installed with no problem indication "very good" for the strength signal to the WLAN router but when I tried to run XP network configurator wizard, the laptop failed to detect the main desktop computer and said something along the lines of "you do not have access to network - contact administrator for privileges" or words to that effect. I have even checked that workgroup names coincide etc. Is it possible that the IP address has changed and is no longer recognised by the old network? |

When you reloaded XP on the laptop did you give yourself administrative privileges? |
