 | BEFW11S4 V4 and Aol I have the befw11s4 and whenever I use AOL 8.0 (the program), sometimes after some time online, it will disconnect. I can just connect again, but why does it disconnect me. This doesnt happen if I am connected directly to the cable modem and bypass teh router. I have been reading in this forum some murmurs of issues with this router and don't know if this applies as well.
Is there anything I can do to get around this issue. The only other problem i see is during downloading, i will see it download lets say for example up to 52% and then freeze. I give it another 20-30 seconds and then it will start moving again and finish the download.
Other information is I am running Windows XP NOT SP1 and I have Norton Firewall.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Steve |

 | I'm seeing a similar issue with one of my users. Using SBC-Yahoo DSL. Is this common? Is there a solution? |

 | reply to stever80 i am having the same aol problem with my Linksys BEFW11S4. It is VERY frustrating. I will often have to ctrl-alt-del. I use Comcast Cable modem (no probs going thru the modem directly. No one can fix the problem, not AOL, not Linksys after MANY tech calls. |

Rapier1Premium join:2002-05-03 Runnemede, NJ | reply to akshar I have the same problem. I have a BEFW11S4 V4 wireless router but the problem occurs even when just the main PC is being used. Both PCs can access the net at the same time via COMCAST cable.
AOL keeps disconnecting after one type of internet request and response. I say one type because I usually can read as much mail as I want. Even more weird is IE crashing as I work with AOL internet mail. I do this rather than log onto AOL and mess with the disconnects.
Anyone know how I can make sure my LAN is set up properly on the two PCs. Also which pc is used for firmware for the linksys wireless router? -- The meaning of life is in a child's face, It is with us to make it a happy place.Women are better people, men are better men. |
