It is the same software. At the end of the link you will see the mode is "full." Change it to "flat" and it will look normal and will have Hey Mods.

You can switch to flat (forum) view without fiddling with the URL. Just click on "all comments", which gets you a forum view, with the usual hey-mods link, etc.

There is also the "Comments display style : switch to flat" link at the top of the comments when you click on the news story headline.

What you request is already there...

Okay, new request

Make the *default* display mode "flat" then, to match the forum section. Let's have the site consistent. Or, did I choose "flat" as my default somewhere ??

Well you're not going to get that one. The news section (and reviews for that matter) are supposed to look different by design.

I don't see anything wrong with having a profile preference for default view though.

That one extra click is killing you, isn't it...

I simply didn't know how to get there... I've followed links to it and it was in a different layout/format, but I never paid attention to it.

Bit on topic, but everything thats in "text" style doesn't have hey-mod on it..like this thread »Change News comments software if you view it in that way. Why not allow the hey mods link show up in this mode.

Ah, now you've tried to apply logic. Silly you.

Only Justin knows why it works like this, and since the solution to the "no hey-mods issue" the last time it was brought up was the addition of that "Comments display style : switch to flat" link, it must not be an easy task to change the text or nested view to include the link...or he'd have done it last year.
