Update on Charles

Hi All,
I have been wrapped up in too many things as usual. But I need to post this to the team! Charles is doing well. His bloodwork shows that he is cells are 95% of his brother's and 5% of his own. That means the transplant is working!! But he still has nine months to go before he is considered out of the woods!

I know that I posted about Charles' bloodwork showing some ominous signs... His bloodwork was positive for CMV (Someone who is familiar with this please help me out here). His CMV is getting under control with IV drugs.

Thanks for all the MOJO!! Keep the MOJO coming, team!!!!!

Kristi

Sorry Kristi..I don't know the details about what you are posting..But I can definitely tell you about CMV.

It it cytomegalovirus and has usually been contacted by all adults, especially if they were ever in a daycare environment. It produces 'flu-like' symptoms for a day or two and most people think it is a 'cold/bug'. Once someone has had it, it shows up in a blood test and they cannot give blood to newborns in need of a transfusion. One of my daughters was 6 months pregnant when she was told that she had CMV. She had a five year old in daycare at the time. The virus caused the death of the fetus and she had to have labor induced and then a D&C.

The link below is one that I found that you may care to peruse.

Hello Gang. Kristi asked me to pop in and say hello... so here I am

Just wanted to say thank you all, for your support and well wishes.

This week is definitely one of the "up" weeks, and so far the best week I've had since the beginning of this ordeal.

I'm hanging in there and have no intentions of giving up...

Again, thank you all for thoughts and prayers... and the Mojo!

Charles
