| Uncripple your 5200 router firmware today!!!
Hi all,
Last time I posted about how to manually get access to options that were disabled by default.
This time I will show you how, by using one of those options, to show all of these options by default every time you log in to your router.
Profile Wizard »192.168.254.254/pfwizard.htm
Originally this wasn't even in my online help screen, so I wasn't looking for it. I found out about the Profile Wizard after reading the 5200 router user manual on Efficient's site yesterday. If you want more info about the Profile Wizard, read the manual here »kb.efficient.com/article.asp?art···31&p=351
Basically, it lets you become administrator of your router, but here's the best part: It let's you enable ALL ROUTER OPTIONS to be shown, even if they are currently hidden!!
Setup:
1. Point your browser to »192.168.254.254/pfwizard.htm 2. Click "New Profile" and give your profile a user name and password(optional). Click Next 3. Choose to set up any URL filtering you wish. Click Next 4. Select any Configuration Options you wish to have on your screen at login, or check the "All" check box. Click Next 5. Choose your security level. Click Next 6. Choose an optional IP address to associate with the profile. If you choose to leave this blank, this will not be the default profile, and you will be required to Login (»192.168.254.254/pflogin.htm) before you can access your new features, and will have to login again after any reboot. If you choose to enter an IP in the field, this will be the default profile whenever you enter the router interface with a computer that has the IP address you specified, and will remain persistent after any reboot. Click Next 7. Either click next to make a new profile, or click end to finish your session. 8. Go back to your router configuration screen and try your new options.
If you have any questions, I'll try to help you out.
This worked for me, hope it works for you! Have fun |

| reply to duress Sarick: can you send me the source of your »192.168.254.254/nav.htm ? In a text file is fine. I can try to see if (maybe) it's under a different name in there or if they did actually disable it. If that doesn't work, you might want to update to the firmware posted by duress.
Duress: are you using the firmware vers that you posted? If so, I can let you know the user/pass for telnet if you want. |

| reply to buggage Buggage, I'm using the firmware that I just posted for sarik and would love to know the user name and password for telnet access. The only way I've been able to access my router was during a flash update with a packet sniffer running in the background so I could catch the random user/pass. |

Not much help for the commands in there, so be careful.

Forgot to mention, that the user/pass for ftp is NOT the same....if you figure those out let me know thanks. [text was edited by author 2003-06-29 15:07:44] |

| Sarick: You probably won't find an entry for pfwizard.htm, though if you have this feature you should at least see something for pfwizard.cgi - at least that's how it is on mine...since you can access everything else, this should be available somehow. For example, with my router, the URL Filtering didn't seem to work (on it's own), but it's working as part of the Profile Wizard. It's probably on there somewhere, but just needs to be accessed in a different way, so don't give up yet. |

| reply to buggage Thanks for your efferts to help me. (Newly Replaced) router seems efficient enough at the moment.
No olds the Cgi doen't exist. I'm not to upset this router has everything else I could ever want.
however, that new firmware that increases stibility, range and transfer would definitly be something that I'd want to upgrade to.
Guess they are'nt selling it yet GRR! even If I did buy it the ISP wouldn't upgrade the hardware at the DSlam so it wouldn't be of any use. |

yaplej CCNA Premium join:2001-02-10 White City, OR | reply to buggage I asked my ISP for a firmware update, and after I ran it I was then able to do this little trick. Pretty cool can now do everything the 5200 is designed to do if I so desire.
Thanks. |

| Update_E240_A2K_71-15_61-2_70B_v1.exe
It updated my router to ver 004-E240-A2K.
I can see where the E240-A2K came from, but not the 004. I didnt look as to what ver I was running before the update so I cant even compare them.
This was for Frontiernet.net btw. All I did was ask them for the update and they e-mailed it to me zipped.
It also added their logo in a few spots. [text was edited by author 2003-07-02 00:39:45] |
