| Comcast THIS!
The transition went well, my ass!
AT&T was the most awful service provider...and Comcast has inherited that...and apparently they are proud of it.
I am not, and will never be, a comcast customer.
What, they can't afford to pay $6.95 a year to renew the attbi.com domain at GoDaddy.com???
Earthlink still maintains all the domain names of ISPs it has swallowed.
There is NO excuse a user should be forced to switch email addresses due to a merger. ...and forcing a user to change a user name if his current one is already in use on the new network....well that is customer "service" of the worst kind.
There is simply no reason to keep Comcast. So much for the "we're your new cable company and we're here to do things right" commercials!
...Where is that "holding up middle finger" emoticon when I need it.
I say buy your own domain and pay someone a couple of bucks a month to host your email. The whole thing will cost about $50 a year! -- ::: Do, or do not, there is no try:::»www.kapilville.com |

I agree with you on this... whenever companies merge, customers shouldn't be required to mess around with things like this. It only gives people one more reason to switch ("Hey, I'm losing this email address anyway...").
Although I wasn't an ATTBI customer, I had gone through a few email changes and finally decided to solve the problem myself by buying my own domain ($6.95/year with GoDaddy) and hosting ($95 or so a year through smarterlinux.com) and run my own email that way. Of course, this probably isn't going to work for most technologically-challenged broadband customers. -- Jewel got Britney-fied! There is hope for the world yet! |

| reply to pnh102 I'm also one of the minority who uses their own domain. I acutally run my own mail server, however, this won't be the last time your email will change. yukstah@roadrunner.com yukstah@mediaone.net yukstah@attbi.com yukstah@comcast.net

| I don't think you're in the minority at all.
I think domain registrations fall into 3 categories. 1. Companies who register names to protect trademarks...this category doesn't see much action...pretty much all businesses already have the domains they want. 2. Scumbags who mass register names for spamming, squatting, ransom or whatever else....and this category has slowed down since the dot com bust and finally 3. Individuals like you and me who register names for personal use....for email, wedding sites, sites for pets, families and anything and everything else.....this is where the registration action is.
I'm like you...I host my own mail server....and also host 25 or so other domains for friends....and it's great.
...as for what comcast.net will change to next? ...it will change to whatever the matrix wants to change it to ...unless you want agent smith to come after you.
...anyone else think agent smith looks a lot like ashcroft? -- ::: Do, or do not, there is no try:::»www.kapilville.com |
