New Features Implemented [updated 5/20/2009]

This is the first of (hopefully) many installments of New Feature request implementations, dates, and links. Submit any new features you find, or more importantly have found in the past, to the volunteers helping with this compilation. These 4 members were instrumental in beginning this list, always the most difficult part: Garbs

If you find any new features on the site, please send them to state

, who has been doing a masterful job helping me keep the list up to date.

This list will have mistakes and gaps in it. If you find wrong or missing information, submit that also to one of the 4 volunteers. Each weekend I will update the list with whatever the forum has collectively dug up. This thread will stay locked as a growing picture of our history of the site, and will be linked atop the forum. Thank you to everyone who contributes.

Forum Spell Checker with better dictionary (including UK spelling)
Streamlined login procedure
No 'confirm password' prompts unless you are idle for 3+ days
Filesize on attached graphics now shows only as tool tip
Clearer error pages, to catch any 500 and other site errors
HTML compression turned back on for forum pages
@dslr.net mail beta signup-limit increased to 1600 users
Pages now gecko and firebird friendly
Various tools and bug fixes for moderators
Gallery (digital imaging forum) many many improvements

• CODE blocks and SYNTAX blocks, updates to the posting FAQ linked to over the devnull forum on how to use these to post code and syntax-colored code blocks

• Cable finder API from earthlink, is now linked to the broadband prequalification tool. »/prequal

• Fixes to the format of ISP lists by state etc. »/isplist/NY (and other isplist links)

• Site Search and forum topics - now auto-hilites the search words in the text that is shown when you click on the topic.

• Visual gap between forum stickies and rest of forum topics

• Introduction of "followed" topics and integration with old 'bookmark' system. At the end of a topic, you can 'follow' or 'unfollow', 'mark' or 'unmark' the topic

• Fixed long standing bug with sudden drop of 'site memory' of what topics you have or have not read, have or have not posted in.

• Clickable buddies list sorted by type then time of last-seen

• Further tweaks to the display style of followup-comments to news articles when viewed in 'nested' mode.

• Find users via quick search box using search string of 'user xxx', Also, URLs to users can easily be constructed and typed in ... /profile/xxxx
