Re: Fry's electronics in WA? Look to see if they sell dually boards and AMD MP processors, Skipdawg? Pretty please? DAT tapes, too? |
|
 | reply to saltedt_frys I am not sure if we sell dual AMD Athlon boards but we do have 6 Opteron boards in stock, which is kind of weird.
Yeah lines were long but today around 6-7 the lines finally calmed down. There were still lines but the wait was maybe 5-15 minutes, unlike the returns. The returns area suffered greatly due to the amount of impulse buying that occured the last two days. |

 | reply to saltedt_frys Also management, brothers incl. are aware that Fry's is known for its bad customer service, but they have been pushing us real hard to promote customer service to the extreme. Now of course some of the employees are a little agitated due to the fact that we are working 18 hours with maybe a 30 minute break, so customer service is suffering. However the brothers told us last Monday about how Best Buy, Compusa, and all those other electronic stores are receiving notices that we were here but they think were just like all the other Fry's and thats with bad customer service.
But like most of you on the board already said this store is different. It is much more classy looking than other Fry's and we are here to change the image, because this is the city of Nordstrom which has great customer service so we know the kind of people we are dealing with (well most of us do, but 60% of the current staff has been flown in from other stores)
Damn I sound like a sales person. |

I was afraid of that. If only I could convert the Pacific NW from wasting cycles to using them for good, joining and contributing to DC projects, Team Helix, in particular.
If only they would do that, perhaps they would become addicted, want duallies, too? Once the demand is there, the stores would carry them.

 | reply to yvovandoorn Hey I agree with you. I was at Best Buy recently to buy a dvd burner and the salesperson didnt know jack. I asked him if he knew anything about burners and he said yes. So I asked him to compare Sony DRU-510A and Pioneer A06 which were right there on the shelf next to each other. He said they are NOT dvd-burners - I almost fell on the ground. Then I had to explain to him that they *WERE* indeed dvd burners, and the features, etc. The only useful thing he said was that pioneers were getting more returns for sonys, but at that point, I dont know if it was a smart move to believe anything he said. LOL.
Well, now to my real point - I told him that Fry's was opening a store on Friday in Renton and if he knew about it. He gave me a hostile/ignorant stare and shrugged. I dont think these guys know what kind of competition Fry's is going to give them. Even among the frenzy that was Friday, I think the staff was well-trained to handle the crowd. I pestered atleast 2-3 staff that day, and they were all sufficiently knowledgeable and patient enough to answer my queries. My 2c as a customer - who plans to return next weekend to buy more stuff |

 | reply to JohnathanKay They'll be busy, they are a 'destination store' -- if you build a Fry's, people will come. It would've been nice though if it were a little closer to Seattle... |

| Impressive store, but I was looking for an 80x80x15 mm fan for an older Dell (standard size, but uncommon) and they didn't have it. I might need to mailorder if I can't find one locally. |

DanHoModerhatedPremium join:2002-05-20 Seattle, WA | reply to saltedt_frys I know that the Best Buy in Tukwila is price matching all of the items in the Fry's ads. Even if they don't carry that particular product. They will find one another product to match it with. I think I overheard them saying that the Bellevue and Northgate stores were doing this as well. -- Just my $0.02 plus tax. |

DanHoModerhatedPremium join:2002-05-20 Seattle, WA | Not sure if they will do it for that long. I think they were doing it for the opening week to get customers to stay in a BB store and not go to Fry's. They also told me they were doing it to save me the hassle of having to stand in lines at Fry's. -- Just my $0.02 plus tax. |

| reply to saltedt_frys Just an FYI, every Friday is when Frys has their new sales. I work for the Seattle PI and the company made a big deal that the carriers don't stuff regular ad's and the classified section in front of the Frys ad every Friday because the ad is the first section you turn to in the paper. Haven't been to Frys yet, but very excited to check it out. |

HardwareLustSubaru WRX ManiacPremium join:2002-01-02 Harrisburg, PA | reply to saltedt_frys I went on Sunday for the first time. Quite an impressive store. You know, any store that has 33 cashiers on duty at 9am on Sunday morning has their sh*t together.
I was, however, mildly disappointed in some sections. The software section was kind of thin in games (although I did pick up BF1942 Secret Weapons for $19). You could def. tell that they needed to do some restocking, esp. in computers and video games. Had a great time in the Apple section playing with the new G5 and that awesome 24" display they have now (for $1999!). Excellent magazine rack, too. Not as good as Borders usually is, but certainly well stocked.
I am *so* glad we have our own Fry's now. No more driving to Portland to get the really good deals anymore! Now, if we could just convince them to build another one somewhere farther up north... |

 | Fry's rebate policies on raincheck items? OK, what about this issue? I went into Fry's for a software package on 9/9 that costs $40 but had a $40 rebate with it, for a net cost of $0. However, they were out of stock and gave me a raincheck. When I get a phone call, say next week, saying they now have it in stock, and I go to buy it, am I sitll entitiled to the rebate, which supposedly expired on 9/9? Not sure how that works. Does anybody know or know what Fry's policy is on something like that, which probably happens fairly frequently?

 | I check Fry's sales at »www.frys-electronics-ads.com before I drive there. Fry's usually run big ads for their lowest price items. |
