Clean Lens?

Can I use a Q-Tip with a little water on it to clean my lens as I have no Camera Cleaning Items here.

GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to a camera store. There's gotta be one nearby. Buy some proper lens tissue or a lens pen!!!!!!!!

Steel wool and an abrasive cleanser like Ajax powder will work as well as anything else you can find around your home...

there are thin coatings on the outside of the lens...the camera cleaning kits are designed to preserve these coatings... even toilet paper and facial tissue are too rough imho... learn from my mistakes.. they scratch things. get a proper kit.

Your Internet connection and a CC.....get online and order some lens cleaning supplies to be delivered.
That way you don't have to go and you get what you need.

It's largely a matter of personal preference. I'd say a lens pen is less hassle though. It actually depends. For simple dust accumulation all you really need is a camel hair blower brush to flick dust off the lens. For more stubborn situations where you actually have fingerprints on the lens you'd use either tissue (and possibly an appropriate lens cleaning solution for really stubborn stuff) or a no hassle solution would be a lens pen. I can't really speak too much about these options because I am personally fanatically careful about getting fingerprints on my lenses and always keep the cap on the lens when not in use. The upshot is that even tissue and lens pens are a final option when the lens is so smeared up nothing else is gonna clean them up. If you really want expert advice, walk into a good camera store and ask them what lens cleaning options they prefer and which one they recommend over the other...

[EDIT]

One more thing. If you are going to start using lens tissue or a lens pen, MAKE SURE YOU USE A BLOWER BRUSH FIRST!!! ie. blow any dust off the lens before using the tissue else those tiny grains of dust will become abrasive and start scratching the lens as well when you try to clean it!!!!
