i thought cracking WEP was suposta be easy. i downloaded knoppix STD and fired up air snort. i set my WEP on my router to 64 bit and started transfering large files across my wireless lan and this things been runing forever and only has 400 encrypted packets out of 10,000 packets and 0 interesting packets so far.
so why does everyone say its so easy to crack wep? |

This was using a brute force cracking method, since I didn't have any dictionary lists or anything. |

| How can it be a federal crime to hack your own network? If nothing else I guess you can say you are just testing your own security...
If you want more information than you ever wanted on cracking WEP read the following paper.
