| Actually I think that problem is related to WCIA. I don't think this is an Insight problem. It could be - considering TECH TV stated a problem I had for a for few days ( about a year ago ) wasn't on there end. Yet Insight swore it was. It might be interesting to add Insight was doing different upgrades in our area at the time - but hey it wasn't related to them or the upgrade etc - yea ok sure. But my thinking is the WCIA problem has been going on for far to long to actually be Insight related. These 2 pages might be of use in help to get the problem resolved or tracked down though.

I've found that you get better support from Insight when using email.
No matter who is at fault in the end. I definitely agree that the channel quality for that station is lacking the few times I actually bother to watch it. It's not your tv set.:)

Should you read further, it appears that the investors are not impressed with Insight's management. Good competition will hopefully force Insight into making more consumer oriented descisions in the future.

When ch. 49 simulcast WCIA, everything was fine. When ch. 49 went UPN, WCIA's signal no longer reached Spfld adequately (see April 4, 2002 State Journal-Register).
Originally, WCIA claimed that their signal could be picked up in Spfld with regular antennas. In response to a Spfld dish subscriber's request for a waiver to get distant CBS stations with the dish, the reply of VP & GM of WCIA (Perry Chester - vpgm@wcia.com ) was: "We are not approving waiver requests. It has not been established that you will be unable to pick up CBS on WCIA." Of course, this was absurd, & dish subscribers eventually got their waivers.
To goose the signal strength, a relay station was placed atop a building in Decatur, but the signal is still not what is should be. (See June 9, 2002 State Journal-Register article about overheating at the relay station.) As long as Insight has to get WCIA's signal over the air from that distance, it's not going to be good.
Feel free to write if you wish, but there are no Nobel Prize winners in WCIA's management. Nexstar, which now owns WCIA, is in Texas, far far far away from us. |
