| Verizon cancelled order after sending kit?
I ordered Verizon DSL on Jul 28. According to both verizon's website and dslreports, DSL is available in my area, which is (212) 267-xxxx, zip code 10002. On Jul 31, the day I received the self install kit, I checked the order status online to find out that it's been cancelled because my area does not have DSL availibility. I find that hard to believe. Zip 10002 is in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NY, one of the biggest metropolis in the world... and there's no DSL here? Well, I looked around dslreports some more, and found out that I am ~9-10,000ft from the CO, and there have been posts made by people in my zip code describing their DSL service. I'm guessing that someone, somewhere along the line made a mistake with my order. If a verizon tech comes across this post, can you enlighten me about my situation? Thanks. |

| Hi the same thing happened to me and I live in astoria, right next to manhattan. It took me about 2 years to get DSL ( i used satellite service as an alternative..yuck). After calling over and over again, i decided to call presidential appeals and within a month they found out that I was on a DAML, which is the most common reason that people who live in highly populated areas can't get dsl. Well i had someone come to my house and remove the DAML and boom...my ready light was solid green. Call presidential appeals at 1 800 483 7988. Let me know how it works out, hope this helps. |

| reply to kdog2k2 DSL not available can also mean there is a facilities issue in the CO for some reason. The line cards in the DSLAM's may be filled, for example. The ordering process is automatic and does not mean much. The distance finder is also useless as it is only a lookup of the physical distance. Your EWL is based on the physical distance from the CO as well as the quality of the line. The quality of the line is determined by a number of factors including wire gage, rotted wire, unterminated wire passed the end of the loop, load coils and other factors. They can add a considerable apparent length to the loop.
Give PA a call and see what they can find out. All the best.
